Taiwanese consumer electronics giant HTC has plans to launch a second blockchain-powered phone before the end of this year. The development of the new phone is an effort to boost their smartphone sales and expand the company's blockchain ecosystem.
Chief Decentralized Officer Phil Chen told Digitimes that sales of the first phone, Exodus 1, has met the company's expectations. In addition to regular cryptocurrency users who have bitcoin and ethereum, HTC is seeing 'considerable demand' from new startups that engage in crypto trading more frequently.
There aren't many details yet about the successor of the Exodus 1. However, Chen told the Asian tech website that the new phone will have crypto wallets, allows storage of virtual goods, and it will extend its blockchain applications into other areas like browsing, messaging and social media.
