Any information can be placed the blockchain and the accuracy of this information depends wholly on trust of all parties. There is already tracebility of items along a supply chain so putting this on a blockchain is just doing what we already have a second time.
So what is the benefit except more cost to be passed on to the consumers!!

Sort:

pretty much replacing the currently system with blockchain. then you can do searches and data analysis.

You can do that already because it is just querying a database. So I think over hyping in some cases.
