RE: Bitcoin Futures: How they work and what it means for you

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Your article represents an important contribution, in my opinion @cybermechanic, at this crucial juncture in the history of trading cryptocurrencies. One reason it is crucial is that, despite all the excitement about the wonderful price increase in bitcoin, it seems reasonably clear that for now bitcoin has failed in its original purpose; which was to be a payment mechanism that would help us to transfer small sums of money around the world to and among people without bank accounts.

Not only are we now dealing with "digital gold", even if we never trade a single bitcoin futures contract if we plan to hold our “gold” for the long-term, I think we had better take some time to understand the basics of futures trading and the potential behaviors of the Big Boys (and their robots) who will be carrying out that trading.

Not only am I up-voting on following you, I'm deepening my study of futures trading (where I have no background, in contrast to options trading), and I'm hoping to make my own contributions to "Newbie learning" concerning the trading of bitcoin futures. My contributions will focus on making certain concepts clear to my fellow futures Newbies.

Cheers!
