Crypto crime has become an issue of mega proportions. The incidences of major crypto crimes do get reported. But the significance of their magnitude may be overlooked. Crypto criminals have been able to steal more than US $900 million in 2018. These high tech criminals have not been apprehended and are still on the loose pillaging security weaknesses involving cryptocurrency exchanges and unsuspecting crypto owners. In order to give you a better perspective, reported crypto crimes of 2017 totaled $266 million.

 

The crypto thefts of 2017 and 2018 can be categorized as the greatest robberies of all time. They also reveal a serious flaw in the blockchain as these crypto criminals continue to operate without the fear of being caught. When their crime spree ends as crime sprees committed by greedy criminals always do, the screenwriters will be standing in line ready to write the movie script. And the world will be standing in line waiting to see the movie. The movie goers can relive the thrill of the elite criminals of the 21st century eluding the cyber police throughout their entire adventure.

 

How do these crypto criminals continue to elude the crimestoppers of the 21st century with their high tech crime stopping gear. The victims of these crimes claim, loose or absent crypto regulations in some regions of the world allow the criminals to launder their ill gotten gains and return to the obscurity of ordinary life. Crypto crime is the weakest link of the blockchain. The only way to make the blockchain stronger will be the global implementation of Anti Money Laundering regulation and the power for those laws to be enforced globally as well.

The United States Dollar gained ground against Bitcoin this week. The USD started the week pairing with Bitcoin at an exchange rate of $6605/ 1 Bitcoin. The pair ended the week exchanging at a rate of $6217 / 1 Bitcoin. The USD gained a 6.24 % advantage over Bitcoin by the end of the week. Bitcoin continued to demonstrate stability this week. Bitcoin maintained levels near its lower resistance level of $6200.

The USD index (.DXY) compares the USD to 6 globally dominant currencies. The USD lost ground when compared to its global counterparts towards the end of the week. The .DXY index recorded a value of 95.60 at the beginning of the week. The Index closed at 95.06 recording a 0.57% loss in value by the week's end. Many analysts believe the loss in value recorded by the USD are a lingering result of the US jobs data. Non farm payroll data was lower than the forecast predicted by many analysts. The GBP held an advantage over the USD. Exchanging at $1.3252 with the USD. gaining 0.14% from the previous trading day. While the Australian Dollar (AUD) maintained an advantage over the Japanese Yen by the close of the week. The AUD ended the week stronger compared to the JPY exchanging with the JPY at ¥80.01 / 1 AUD a 0.15% increase in value from the previous trading day.

Can Bitcoin hold the line and bounce back to the levels it recorded at the beginning of the year? That is the question and that is the only question that needs to be answered. Although the answer to that question is not clear cut since no one has the Bitcoin crystal ball. We can only monitor the trends set by the prices Bitcoin trades record each day.

Those recorded values display a line in the sand aptly named, the lower level of resistance. That level is near US $6,200. Bitcoin has consistently bounced off that line throughout the year. What has been demonstrated by Bitcoin's trade prices is stability. The experts have chimed in echoing the same opinion. Stanislaw Drozdz author of a study that analyzes the Bitcoin market has said, " The most important statistical parameters of the Bitcoin market indicate very clearly that for many months now it has met all the important criteria of financial maturity."

 

When financial instruments are stable it takes an epic piece of news to move that instrument in either direction, positive or negative. The speculation surrounding Bitcoin anticipates that news may be positive. Bitcoin is right on the line, trading at $6196 at the time of this writing. And everyone everywhere is waiting for some bit of news that will move the crypto in a direction. Hopefully a positive direction.

The internet of things (IOT) is entrenched into the inner workings of cryptos. Verizon (VZ) is the number 1 US wireless carrier by subscribers. The 21st Money Team recognizes this relationship and has discovered a pattern investors may want to exploit. Is it just coincidence that internet related stocks grow in value alongside Crypto growth? No, it's all part of the development of blockchain technology. With the rollout of 5G internet speeds, blockchain technology is about to explode worldwide. Verizon will be at the forefront of 5G technology. Their acquisition of Yahoo last year was just another step to solidify their presence in the IOT in the US. Crypto growth and internet enhancement follow a similar course.

On Oct 1st Verizon launched 5G service within 4 American cities, Sacramento, Indianapolis, Houston, and Los Angeles. The first major American telecom company to bring 5G to the people. VZ has gained 11.9% in value over the last 6 months. VZ was trading at US $53.33 at the time of this writing. Verizon added 199,000 elite subscribers by the end of the 2nd quarter topping estimates of 126,000.
