The Abyss is a digital distribution platform for delivering all types of video games (Free2play MMOs and crypto-games being a key priority), including AAA-titles, to the high-growth global game community. The platform will bring together gamers and develops using various systems that make using The Abyss “a win” for both participants. Striking that balance is at the heart where their value proposition lies. As such, Gamers and developers have equal incentive to bring in users to the platform through The Abyss’s multi-level referral system. Above that, gamers and developers each have additional reasons to use the platform.
If you are not familiar with the video game market it is high-growth, but not perfect industry. On the developer-side they have the burden to advertise and promote their products – a costly expense given that a marketing solution may not be the same between platforms. On the other side, gamers don’t have incentives to ensure a game succeeds. Through The Abyss, both sides have opportunities to use one platform and bring more users to it. In other words, a gamer and developer can profit without it being, or feeling, like a zero sum game where one wins at the cost of the other participants.
The Abyss will also use a variation of the DAOICO model (see ICO 2.0 Model section) to add a level of security to investors by putting the release of funds only if they achieve what they say they will do.
Lastly, I only plan to hit the main value propositions outlined in their whitepaper. My goal is to make readers aware of The Abyss and get them excited enough about the project to explore it in more detail.
MULTI-LEVEL REFERRAL SYSTEM
The system is similar to an affiliate model where the users at the top of the period are rewarded for building their networks. The affiliate marketing is open to gamers and developers alike.
The following table illustrates the percentage referral income to expect at each level:
The following illustration is an example of how the system will work starting if the Indie Game Developer invited Kai to the platform and then invites Gerda, whom then convinces a whale (large investor) to join: ADDITIONAL CAPABILITIESWhile the multi-level referral system is the heart of The Abyss it certainly isn’t the only feature worth mentioning. However, a lot of the other areas are self-explanatory from their title. If you don’t agree, then feel free to take a look at the whitepaper and find the section you are looking for. Here are the best of the rest:
PLATFORM DIAGRAMPut the pieces together and you get the following They Abyss ecosystem illustration: ICO DISTRIBUTION DETAILSABYSS tokens will be the platform’s currency for payments and rewards. It will provide the incentive needed to drive user behavior towards whatever opportunities they wish to pursue. ICO 2.0 ModelThe Abyss will adopt an ICO model that is similar to Vitalik Buterin’s DAICO concept where Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) elements are brought into an ICO including the ability to leverage crowd wisdom, the distrust of centralized teams, and the ability to spread funding over time. The Abyss Token Sale is improves on the model by allowing token holders to control the fund withdrawal limit, also providing an option to vote for the refund of the remaining contributed money in case the team fails to implement the project, with Oracles (appointed industry leaders) acting as arbitrators.

ROADMAP
FINAL THOUGHTSThe video game industry isn’t going away. It’s a high-growth and evolving industry that already has a number of well-known digital distribution platforms that The Abyss knows are competitors such as STEAM, UPLAY, ORIGIN, KONGREGATE, and GOG (all mentioned in their whitepaper). Yet, on paper, The Abyss has laid out a description of a platform that sounds like a great place for gamers and developers. The referral system is pretty cool, but if it isn’t implemented near perfectly, it might not gain mainstream acceptance, which will leave The Abyss vulnerable. However, if successful, the referral model could be adopted by other industries, so I plan to cheer them on and try to assist where I can. I can easily see myself using the platform and I hope I convinced the blockchain community to consider giving They Abyss a deeper look as they hit their roadmap milestones. A very good news for the world of video games, players and developers. I like that combination of video games and cryptocurrencies.
Agree, thanks for commenting.
Excellent contribution my friend, this news for my time, as gaming I love that cryptocurrencies can contribute to the area of video games because in my opinion you need to have competition so that prices can go down.
Glad you enjoyed the post and thanks for the kind words. Thy Abyss does look like a cool platform. I hope they are successful.
We all expect the same. And as an additional detail your presale is not as exaggerated as it is already costumer.
