My blog (not here on Steemit, but the one from signature) got popular because i had good predictions of altcoins to buy. I was doing monthly reports and had nice success rates.
The blog still gets 1 post a month and mailing with extra hidden infos for subscribers but Steemit is my daily blogging spot.
So on Steem i have first predicted 1000 USD due to India news.
And then
2000 
2400 - 
Now based on similar observations i can see 3000USD+ range in next days.
Korea and India Trading at 3k
GBTC Asset at 4462 USD
Its a Bitcoin Investment Trust which shares you exchange by 0.093063 so the 318USD per share ends up with whole 1 BTC trading at 4462 USD.
Of course do no treat this as trading advice, nobody can be right 100% times, only time will tell if this works out like before or not.

A couple months ago i bet with a friend of mine that BTC will hit 10k by the end of the year. He chuckled, nowadays he says he would never bet against me again !

bitcoin is probably going to $10k and I think it may go well beyond.. Ethereum may also follow on it's heels..monero, dash, zcash all flying.. even tiny coins like verge are rocketing!! the crypto world is just exploding at the moment ! it's like watching fireworks
my tip for investors is buy some well researched 0.0002 value coins.. that's where there's room for making money as when Joe public gets involved, he'll be wanting the cheap stuff !! and lots of it
You're completely delusional and don't understand what a pump & dump is.
I never imagined BTC would get to $2000 so fast or ETH to $200. More and more it's looking like we're in the early phases of a bubble akin to the 1999 dot-com bubble. So I would not be at all surprised to see $3000 by the end of the month, and the Korea / India action looks like a good leading indicator. I wonder if anyone has tried arbitraging those markets? It must be difficult to do or the large price gap wouldn't exist.

The SEC in the US is reviewing the ETF for bitcoin. This time it will most likely be accepted. Then, full bore market rigging on bitcoin. Wall Street will be able to naked short bitcoin without any bitcoin actually being within their personal possession.
When the ETF passes, that will be the worst day for bitcoin. :(
People are waking up to how corrupt the debt markets are. They will gravitate to just owning the bitcoin outright instead of taking on unneeded counterparty risk.

I've been looking forward to an ETF approval, hoping I can move some of my superannuation (Australian mandatory retirement savings) into bitcoin.
This is the first I've heard of a potential downside.
I'd recommend a bit of reading on silver/gold price manipulation. Zero price discovery. ETF would be the beginning of the end for freemarket BTC pricing. Unless... we the people can grow the market cap so big the banksters can't corner it. Battle of the titans!

I'm across regular short selling. (Shorting bitcoin would be stupid), but how theoretically would a naked short of a bitcoin ETF look?

I'm not a trader on Wall Street but I understand the logic behind it. What I would do is 'short' a massive amount of theoretical bitcoin knowing it would cause a panic and price drop in the REAL bitcoin market. Then, I could enter into the market (or another firm I've buddied with) and BTFD. The price would eventually correct (probably upwards) and bingo! Mass profit.

I like bitcoin the way it is. No market rigging games (except for perhaps some exchanges). You can only sell or buy bitcoin that actually exists. It's called the free market.
But shorting is still a contract. (to provide n of A on a given date, in exchange for n of B right now) Who's the other party?
Or is that where the 'naked' bit comes in?

You're a PM guy who didn't buy BTC but you're using Steemit. That's all the due diligence you need to answer your question. I did buy BTC a few years ago and I'm way more excited about the wealth that will be generated by STEEM/BTS/EOS than I was/am about BTC.

Of course it can. It has the potential to make an even bigger move from where we are right now, IMO.
It all comes down to the value of the tech/ service that it provides. Just based on Steemit alone, if it grows to become a true competitor of Facebook and the other "big boys", then Steem's market cap will have to multiply MANY times from where it is, as in hundreds of times!

But, in Korea, it's said that the coin market is a big bubble and will crash down soon. And it shows too big premium on prices comparing with other countries' market. Need to be careful!
I voted steem days ago but bought ETC a couple days ago because it will be the obvious winner. Ah well...just hang on to your Bitcoins. Clif High says $13000 USD Bitcoin by February 2018.

Do not think you missed the chance to buy bitcoins. There are many cryptocurrencies that are promising. The top cryptocurrencies to invest in, are Ethereum 210$, litecoin 35$, Steem 1$, and Dash 140$.

I think there are too many moving parts to make accurate predictions of the direction of cryptos. I really think what we are seeing is the slow but steady breakdown of all fiat monetary systems trying to find their true value (zero). With so much automation around the corner, the gold and silver markets kinda fucked up IMO, and the politics of the world being what they are right now, the amount of chaos built into all of our systems (especially monetary) makes it increadibly hard to make an accurate prediction of where things are headed.
All that being said, I think you might be right. I think the inverse is true though. Its not that BTC is moving up per se, but that fiat is moving down as more and more people realize it's not going to be a stable store of value in the long run, and it's easier to hide crypto transactions from the prying eyes of whatever government you suffer under.
