Whenever there is a drop in the Cryptocurrency Market, you better believe Bitmain is there to take advance of the validity by releasing a new batch of miners. Today, Bitmain added the Antminer T9+ to their Antminer line with a hefty price tag of $2008 plus shipping. The T9+ is currently available on the Bitmain website and has a 10 day estimated delivery time. The T9+ offers a 10.5 TH/s hashrate at 1432w of power. It is less efficient and has a lower hashrate when compared to the S9 model. The most recent Antminer S9 models are the 13.5 and 14 TH/s models with a power use of 1323W and 1372W.
Below is the estimated profitability of the T9+, the estimate does not account for cost of power, as this will differ depending on location. Similarly the estimate does not include the shipping cost since this also depends on buyers location.
At the current Bitcoin price it would take around 200 days to break even mining with the T9+. Hopefully this is just a taste of what Bitmain is working on as a new revised version of the S9 is needed. Rumor has it, that powerhouse Samsung may be in the works in developing their own Asic mining hardware. This would be great for the mining community and cryptocurrency market as a whole. Until recently, Bitmain has had very little competition in developing asic mining hardware acting as a monopoly in this market.
These t9+ chips are likely the binned chips that preformed too poorly to be produced in the s9. Instead of trashing the chips, they turn them into the t9+ which runs at higher voltage for more stability on lower hashing power chips.
