It has been almost a decade since the world was introduced to Bitcoin, and it has not shown any sign of slowing down. Cryptocurrency has been featured in the news for its anononyminity and just recently has also been hitting the small screen in some of our favorite new shows. I want to recap some of these since i thought it was pretty cool seeing something i thought was pretty much underground being thrown in to mainstream TV.
mr robot
Mr Robot.

In a show called Mr. Robot, a hacker joins a group of "hacktivists" who are actively bringing down a big corporation called E Corp. From the first episode it is obvious that cryptocurrency is woven into the main storyline and will be used throughout the show. It also depicts our current banking systems as a crumbling pillar in our society, showing frustrated Americans as they are denied access into bank accounts and deposit boxes because of cyber attacks on the banks.
the good wife
The Good Wife

One of the episodes called "Bitcoin for dummies" , the main character has to defend a lawyer wanting to keep the identity of his client, Satoshi Nakamoto, a secret since he is on the run from the treasury department for creating Bitcoin.

The Simpsons
simpsons
There are slight references to Bitcoin in the mega hit show The Simpsons also. In an episode called "Clown In The Dumps", s26 ep01 , a big poster depicts James Corky Jones saying "Send me your lunch money online!- accepting Bitcoin".
In another episode called "Yellow Subterfuge" Krusty the Clown becomes bankrupt following the Bitcoin market crash.

Almost Human
almost human
In season 1 episode 6 of Almost Human a strange death is being investigated of a man who knew the actual time of his death. While investigating they come across an organ market where people pay with Bitcoin in order to stay anonymous and under the authorities radar.

House of Cards
house of cards
Season 2 of House of Cards features Bitcoin as the currency used when they come across the deep web in search of a hacker.

Other shows that have mentioned cryptocurrencies include Supernatural, Silicon Valley, Jeopardy and C.S.I. Cyber.

Unfortunately most times cryptos are mentioned it is directly related to drug deals and weapons among other criminal activity. Hopefully with more integration in to the mainstream it can start to lose it's bad rep and seen as more of an alternate currency. Only time will tell. If you can think of any show i might have missed feel free to mention it the comment section. Thanks for reading.
