I have an ongoing bet with a guy at work about Ripple. I see it as just another alt, not even a real crypto (in that its not decentralized etc). I know its partnered with the banking industry and that may work in its favor but its likely to put most crypto enthusiast off (crypto is supposed to make banks redundant not improve their operating margins) but time will tell.

Agreed but it can be successful along side bitcoin. It might not be a good currency to hold for 20 years but crypto is not going to take over over night and banks arent going anywhere for atleast 10 or 15 years
Agreed banks are not going anywhere soon. I still think that the only reason they like ripple because they can control it. They can’t control decentralised currencies and that scares them!
No doubt and I am not sure that ripple is going to help cryptocurrency in its strugle for dominance but I like to keep politics out of my investment decisions unless its directly relavent and while it is true that hardcore cryto users wont have any interest in ripple banks will and they are sure to drive the liquidity and price up in the near future
Ripple is a banker coin. Another disease in the crypto space.
Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion. Personally I think ripple will help institutional investors feel more comfortable with cryptocurrency and having a cryptocurrency provide a legitimate, useful, low cost, practical service that is integrated with our current financial system will help bring cryptocurrency more into the public eye
