HBO knows who Satoshi is!

This has been one of the top topics in crypto in the recent days. HBO will be releasing its new documentary titled Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery next week. According to multiple articles in this documentary HBO may or will reveal the true identity of Satoshi Nakomoto. Wow, this is a big claim and I will definitely be watching it. However, I doubt we will see definitive proofs of Satoshi's true identity. By now many have tried to figure out who this mysterious person or group is. We still don't know. May have guessed, and there is not 100% proof. But this is definitely a very interesting topic for many within and outside crypto. What Satoshi have started is truly amazing.

I don't have an HBO subscription at this time. But I will definitely consider to resubscribe just to see this documentary. HBO is usually very good in funding and producing quality content. Regardless this documentary is able to reveal the true identity of Satoshi or not, any research and investigations on the topic will still be interesting. This is also great for bitcoin and through this documentary many can learn this amazing story of bitcoin. Without Satoshi bitcoin's story is never complete. Its story is what adds great value to the technology, network, and the asset. This is not just a story of person or group trying to create something new, this is a story of how there is always hope, and there is more good in the world, and with small beginnings we can transforms systems, we can change lives.

The current global financial system is the largest humanity ever had. It touches every place in the world, and influences all countries, and has positive and negative effects to all. For some there are benefits, for others it creates difficulties. While it has served well for decades, and worked ok, it never was perfect, it never was intended to benefit all. While there has been many goods produces as a result of this system, there has also been theft and destruction. A lot has to do with the lack of transparency, greed, and corruption. Still a better system than the ones before, yet not the best. Satoshi introduced bitcoin to the world with a promise of practical solution to this current financial system. Once understood, it is a no brainer this is the way. The challenge is to get to the understood part. The journey may have been slow, but the word has spread and new money is here to stay.

Bitcoin wouldn't be bitcoin of today if it wasn't the right time. It was created at the right time when technology was available, smartphones were just getting started, internet available almost everywhere, and most importantly during a massive global financial crisis. Without the financial collapse of banks and economies, bitcoin's true promise would never be understood. I believe this is one of the reasons why Satoshi was anonymous and never planned to reveal their identity. It wasn't just the altruistic behavior of making the bitcoin network without founders and truly decentralized, but also the fear of powerful banking and government powers going after him. Satoshi was right to be careful and for protecting the identity. I also do believe Satoshi intention were altruistic as well, creating something, giving the world and letting it do its thing in decentralized fashion worked out just fine.

The story is amazing. We will always seek to learn the true identity of Satoshi, even though we like just the way things unfolded. The million bitcoins question will never disappear. When will Satoshi sell? Does it really matter at this point. Even though Satoshi is or would be one of the richest people in the world, that would only add Satoshi to the billionaires list in the next Forbes article. Satoshi wouldn't even be the richest person. Today we see BlackRock, MicroStrategy, and other accumulating hundreds of thousands of bitcoins under their control. BlackRock currently holds about 366,000 bitcoins. That's one third of a million, and it only took BlackRock a few months to get there. I wouldn't be surprised if BlackRock accumulated a million bitcoins within next year or so. So does it really matter if Satoshi sells bitcoins? I don't think so. Sure, in a short time it would cause bitcoin to lose value but this would be recovered quickly and distributed to other participants in the network. There aren't enough bitcoins for all. Mt Gox had almost half a million bitcoins. They kept selling and distributing. In short term yes prices seen decreases, but in a long term bitcoin continued to be the best performing asset.

One of the strongest counter arguments against Satoshi's bitcoin making to the market has been that if Satoshi has any intentions to sell or had any need to sell it would have happened already. Many times when bitcoin made all time highs, those prices were huge for those times. It is difficult to imagine now, but we all know that one day bitcoin will reach a million dollar price point. Would that be a good time to sell? We don't know. In fact, any time is good time to sell and buy, just depends on when the were obtained and the financial situations of the holders. Today, it doesn't really matter if Satoshis coins will move or not, Satoshi sells or not. Most likely they are lost forever. Even they aren't, Satoshi deserves every single coin. The ability to hold for so long is impressive.

If Satoshi's identity is never revealed, that is great. It would also be great if Satoshi revealed the identity, proved through the network without doubt, and shared these stories in person at various public events. Now this would be something amazing as well. Satoshi doesn't need to be involved in bitcoin network, but can still enjoy being part of the revolution with revealed identity. I think this would be welcomed by many, and I doubt there threats from banks or governments for Satoshi any longer. Either way, it doesn't matter. Bitcoin will go on with or without Satoshis. Because it never was about Satoshi, it was always about creating a better money that benefits all and not the few.

I am looking forward to seeing the documentary and hope to see something new. Not expecting and convincing evidence who Satoshi is, but probably same old guesses that have been discusses many times. My guess is it is Adam Back, although he has denied it multiple times.
