Its also worth noting that at some point its likely that quantum computing will allow someone to crack Satoshi's original address and that even if BTC moves to a quantum proof encryption method, if Satoshi never touches his coins, his address won't have the protection as any such protocol upgrade would only apply to new addresses.

So even if Satoshi is dead, it is likely that those coins will re-enter circulation someday and when they do it will cause a major shock to the market.
