I just began studying bitcoin...

in #bitcoin7 years ago

There are crazy amounts of articles populated over the internet in the past 24 hours and it seems like everyone wants a piece of this gigantic bitcoin trend. So I opened a coinbase account and began watching the trends and I am baffled to say the least. I'm not sure to jump on the bandwagon or not, but it is interesting to watch the numbers by the hour. If only I followed what my friend introduced me to early last year !

I'm just posting this as my first blog ever, if this is what to call it..and I just opened my steemit account as I have beem lead to this trough articles of different types of cryptocurrency. Hope to hear some replies on your thoughts and experiences with bitcoin investing and Coinbase.

If you jump when the boat has sailed away long ago, you'll just fall into the water and drown.

Look for another boat that hasn't left the pier.

Well said...I very much agree, but so tempting at the same time

You can always jump, but you better know how to swim.

Bitcoin may have left the pier, but has very high potential of hitting $1 million. It's not too late to jump on board, you just have to expect significantly less returns than what earlier adopters have gotten. You'll get there. 2 years ago I was overwhelmed by the choices. There was much uncertainty. Now, I literally could have spun around til dizzy, and blindly picked a coin listed on coinmarket cap, and made millions. Coinbase is...decent, at best, if you're in the USA. It's what I use too. Don't invest what you can't afford to lose, and $20 a month in either bitcoin / litecoin / eth / dash could prove beneficial. Just don't take my word for it, you must do your own due diligence. Good luck and welcome to steemit!

Thanks @bitfiend I feel the same way about investing what you are willing to lose. It has enough potential to invest a small amount at a time and use it as a learning curve as you watch the market. Good luck to you also!

To be fair, I was afraid of losing my investment so I didn't. Had I done so, I'd be sitting pretty, so I've started taking more risk. The thing is, worst case scenario just cash out. You're not exactly losing your money unless the price plummets or your account becomes compromised. So at best, if you're low on cash because you over-invested, just cash out what ya need. Hopefully I never have to cash out. I'm all about HODL right now.

I agree with...HODL it!

Definitely do your due diligence when looking into new alt coins. Look at the team members and what their background is. Read the white paper and if they don't have a white paper don't invest. If all they have is a website that is not enough to convince me.

Using REQ as an example, it sounds like a great coin and I will probably end up investing. If you are more cautious like me then wait for them to produce some deliverables on their roadmap before investing. You may miss the first pump, but at this point you will know the team is reliable. You'll still be in time for a lot of growth and feel more secure knowing that the team can deliver.

There is so much to catch up on! REQ has never been brought to my attention...I will definitely read more about their coin. I appreciate the advise and personal input!
