Twitter's chief executive, Jack Dorsey, was in tune with the current criptomoedas landscape and somewhat optimistic about the future of the new market during his participation in the Consensus in New York in the United States last Wednesday (16).
According to Bloomberg, Dorsey caught the eye of a crowd of enthusiasts in clearly translating their ideas.
"The internet deserves a native currency; she will have a native currency, "Dorsey said on the last day of the event to Elizabeth Stark, executive director of Lightning Labs who interviewed him.
The CEO also gave a pitaco about which would be this native currency when commenting on the most famous of all, the Bitcoin.
- "I do not know if it's going to be Bitcoin or not, but I hope it will be," he said.
It was not the first time that the head of the microblog has attempted to speak with appreciation of the crypto-coins. By 2016 he was already expressing the idea of native currency when he posted to his Twitter account: "I would love to see a digital currency thrive."
In 2014, Dorsey helped promote Bitcoin in the payment company it founded in 2009, Square, based in San Francisco, United States.
The company started to allow negotiations with bitcoins, which generated a certain internal discomfort in the institution, since part of the team was not enthusiastic like him.
Since then, Square has been working to expand to all users of its 'Cash app' application the operation with Bitcoin, which allows the sending and receiving of money between friends and family.
The leader commented on the conflicts generated within Square after the implantation of the criptomoeda:
- "I'll be honest, there was a lot of disagreement within the company," Dorsey said.
He reported that to this day there are debates and even serious discussions on the subject, as many still behave in an incredulous way. In the beginning, most of the board was already resistant to the new technology.
According to the financial report released by Square, the company generated revenue of $ 34.1 million from bitcoins in the first quarter of this year.
However, profit was only $ 200,000 due to the initial investment of $ 33.9 million.
