The hackers accessed their systems "from the outside". The robbery was carried out for two hours but the anomaly was detected days later.
67% of the value of the stolen goods were assets of clients of the firm, and the rest were funds from a cryptocurrency exchange firm integrated with Tech Bureau Corp, Zaif.
It affected three cryptocurrencies, but 89% was in Bitcoins (BTC) and the rest in the virtual currencies MonaCoin (MONA) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH), in quantities not yet accurately calculated, since investigations are still underway.
The company said that the server is being thoroughly reviewed to prevent further damage, adding that it has requested financial assistance from one of its subsidiaries to cover the damages caused.
The damage suffered by this firm is less than the robbery reported last January by the Japanese operator Coincheck, which reported irregular access to its systems and the theft of cryptocurrencies and yen worth 58,000 million yen (439 million euros / 534 million dollars).
Those denounced forced the Japanese authorities to tighten controls on the cryptocurrency markets.
