Why I Should Have Listened To John McAfee Last Year About Cryptocurrencies!

John McAfee and Brendan Wenzel

When John McAfee decided to run for the Libertarian Party nomination, I was intrigued to say the least. I had just had dinner with Gary Johnson in LA during the CA LP Convention and was not impressed at all by his plans to win. Once that dinner was over, I was researching who else was running and came across Austin Petersen and John McAfee.

John McAfee's whole story was interesting, but what grabbed my attention most was that he was the only one talking about cyber security and he had started the largest business out of all the other candidates. I volunteered to help out with some social media advertising and did what I could to help raise some awareness for his nomination.

He obviously didn't win, but I learned a lot listening to him speak. My biggest mistake was not listening closer to what he was saying about BitCoin and cryptocurrencies. He was 100% sold on it and that should have pushed me to at least start researching them. Doing that would have made me a lot of money!

The lesson I learned here is to listen more closely to what smart people say and research things I haven't heard about yet because they may be worth knowing about. What I've done is setup an Evernote Notebook so that when I'm watching videos I will now take notes about things I hear in those videos.

I just wanted to share this little story since I was thinking about it this morning.

Nice simple lesson in your story. Be sharp. With a smartphone at half an arm's length it it so easy to remember and research every subject that sounds interesting and is not on our radar yet.

Yeah there really is no reason not to at least note something down. :)
