Bitcoin is not being adopted, it's just being purchased. Its transaction capacity is pitifully small, it literally cannot be adopted in any meaningful way, even if speculators weren't using 99% of that capacity themselves, driving fees up so high that it doesn't even make sense to use Bitcoin in commerce outside of very large purchases or remittance payments.
