BitcoinABC/Bitcoin Cash has stalled

At the point of writing this, BitcoinABC/Bitcoin Cash chain has stalled. Looking at the logs of the node, any new nodes are being removed right away and only the core ones remain.

It appears the hash power on the BCC chain is significantly less than expected operating at about 2-3% of the main chain power which has caused the difficulty to get stuck.

Looking at the BitcoinABC code, the developers did anticipate the chain may be useless and factor in a difficulty adjustment change outside of the standard two week interval the Bitcoin chain has.

The code does factor in a change but it may be some time until we see 6 blocks to kick in a difficulty adjustment and potentially days before we see a moving chain again.

Based on the changes in the Github commit, we will need 6 blocks that take more than 12 hours. This will lower the difficulty by about 20% and not adjust again for 6 more blocks that take 12 hours.

Unless Jihan adds some hash power, we may see this chain operating at a crawl for a few days.

This is what bothers me the most on Steemit. A piece of short and useful info about current situation made by anonymous OP - 1$ of potential payout after 15 minute
Some repeated cringy meme "OMFG HARDFORK IS COMING" - 80 votes and 50$ potential payout after the same time.

I've followed you and advise others to do the same. Promote valuable content, not the stolen pictures with cheesy text over it.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing this.
