TenX got me the cash I desperately needed

in #bitcoin7 years ago

I left Hong Kong to the UK without exchanging a single GBP (UK currency). I totally forgot about this and decided that I would use visa.

Bank ATM card didn't work

One problem is that not all restaurants accept visa here, especially the nice kebab shops that only accept cash. I tried to withdraw cash with my Normal ATM card, only to get rejected. This is because i forgot to set the overseas ATM limit before I left, so I couldn't withdraw any cash.

bitocin ATM

I also tried visiting both bitcoin ATMs here, but there were out of cash. https://steemit.com/bitcoin/@boxmining/checking-out-the-bitcoin-atms-in-brighton-uk . Also the exchange rates were quite poor around 2300 GBP to BTC

#tenx to the rescue
I remembered that i Brought my tenx card and I tried it on the ATM. to my surprise it actually worked and I was able to draw 40 GBP! There is meant to be 2.5 dollars of fees, but seemed like they didn't charge me. the exchange rate was great too!

This shop didn't accept Visa - so i got some cash with TenX

Very good testament of TenX.
Thanks for sharing.
I have been trying to get some non believers into cryptocurrencies especially Steem and BTC. Looks like TenX may be the stepping stone to get them into cryptocurrencies.

@tytran , I agree with you. TenX was one of the first projects that impacted me on cryptocurrency because their card is already used by a good amount of people. They use the card even to buy in McDonalds. Just upvoted. @gold84

Hey boxmining,
Thanks for the great content

Tenx is up a lot yesterday. The visa partnership is great

good job soldier on beating dat kebab with tenx :)

Tenx is a great project! It is very cheap now! Thanks for sharing your story

Hi Michael! Is great to see real everyday use of criptos. Hope tenx expanse to all countries soon. Thanks for sharing.

TenX is real? I thought all cryptocurrency was magical bits of nothing. At least that's what my friend Jamie Dimon told me. Next thing you are going to do is tell me that the earth is round. Nice Try @boxmining but you won't fool me!

Buying Food with coins. That is as real as it gets for me. Tenx finally gives an easy way to use your coins in everyday live.

I honestly want to buy some TenX now.

By the way, I saw the card in action already. Still wainting on mine...

Really? Jamie told that to me as well. But then JP Morgan called me the next day wanting to buy my Bitcoin. This whole thing is very confusing ;)

I don't believe anything. He said this was a nice kebab shop. Such a thing does not exist here in the UK ;)

It just had partnership with visa!!

Thx for the post, can't wait to get finally my card.

This picture in the end is ultimately the most beautiful on the blog.

TenX is awesome! Good investment and product.

Hey Michael thats cool. Have a great time in london and all the best for the DASH conference. I am one of your subscribers on youtube and watch your videos daily. Keep up the good work bro.

Thanks so much kuldeepkaul!

Thanks for sharing your experiences @boxmining. I wanted to order my tenx card as well, but I am waiting for dash or litecoin integration. Bitcoin fees are to high at the moment. Or do you guys have some tip how to get bitcoins to the tenx wallet without a fee of 0.001?

Thanks for the picture. Now I am hungry.

I suggest you get the TenX app and apply for a card first if you plan to use it once dash or litecoin is integrated. Because the moment it's integrated, the number of users ordering the card will be massive, and you'd have to wait for weeks to get it. I'm still waiting for mine from Canada. :)

Edit: Though it does cost you $15 for the card and shipment, so depends on if you think $15 is worth the wait.

lol they will integrate soon!

Transfer BTC from gdax.com (coinbase exchange). There are no fees to transfer out. Secret is to do a bank transfer of fiat into gdax and then be a maker not a taker on the exchange. Maker means you set your price lower than current market price and wait for it to come down and fill your order - if you are an order maker you pay no fees. Once you have your coins you can transfer out to TenX wallet and there are no fees for that either. Good luck!

Yes, i read about that, but unfortunately I can't get verified for gdax. I would need a passport or a european driving license for that. I only have an old german driving license and I never needed a passport right now.

Alternatively you could send a SOS to some Steemians over here... I'm sure there are plenty who would exchange a few 'quid' for some Steem Dollars! Welcome to the UK!

I'm a big believer in TenX and it is one of my larger crypto holdings. Great to hear this real life success story, especially when other traditional ways didn't do so well for you. I appreciate you sharing your experiance. Upvoted:Was already following :) Also ReSteemed.

You give me hope and I want that food. Seriously - I'm a bbq meat fan and that looks like heaven! What a thrill to have that work out.

I should have been buying more TenX at the dip. Still cheap!

same here, I didn't buy anywhere near enough!

Yes, still cheap even after the bump up.

Thanks for this great example of the real world use of TenX. I've been researching a lot about this over the last few days.

I really like TenX. I've been accumulation since it got on the exchange. US was banned from the ICO so I jumped in as soon as I could. Good luck whatever you decide :)

Real world use cases are one of the top things I look for when investing in crypto.
Just gave you a follow too! Can't wait to see more about your experience with TenX mate.

Good point. If TenX get their banking license in March, I can't even imagine the effect on price of the PAY token and all of the other cryptos that are supported on the TenX app.

Great stuff, nice to see real world use. If you have the time would love to see a quick youtube video of this on your channel!

Good to know about TenX coming to your rescue to feed you.
Is there a link you can provide for me to get a card to?
thanks.

you have to get it in the app :P its available on both android and iOS

Not totally sure, but I think you should have withdrawn more than £40 because it's a fixed fee. Cost of withdrawing £80 would have been the same, but if you withdraw £40 again, you'll have to pay that same fee again.

Now, your story is most appropriate, because I was thinking of getting a tenx card. Thanks.

I reckoned that bitcoin is low right now. didn't want to part with my coins :D

Nice!!! Have u tried that in hk as well?

Awesome write up. TenX is awesome.

Still waiting on my tenx card, I am glad to hear you got yours :)

Wow. TenX has an actual product that allowed you to convert cryptocurrency into FOOD?!?! But but but... on reddit people are fudding left and right saying that TenX is a scam!! That TenX is the worst!! This is why - people that believe sinister fudders on Reddit instead of people with real stories, like you, don't deserve to hold TenX's token.

@boxmining Good to hear that piece of info!

Thanks for sharing this BM...great stuff..glad you weren't left hanging..cheers

TenX for the win!

Wow nothing like a kebab in London. I should know I live here. Its awesome to see tenx worked and even better that i have tokens and i am now awaiting my card. Next time I can lend you a tenner hehe.

nice! tenx is the best! cant wait to get my card.

there is no visa partnership between tenX and visa yet. I think it is through 3nd party such as WestCrest Holdings, am I mistaken ?

Very helpful post! Can one use the TenX card in the United States & Canada? Thinking of getting one?

wow, can't wait to get my hands on the card

Good example of a concrete use of TenX... I think it could be useful to have a TenX card, just in case... If your normal credit/debit card doesn't work, you can pay with your TenX card... :)

Still waiting for my TenX card! :)

making a purchase using your tenx card allows you claim cash back - think it's fifty quid, maybe more. definitely works with major retailers like supermarkets and their high street convenience stores (7/11 equivalent) - fee free!!

TenX is my favorite of the "payment cards". Mostly because they allow for so many different coins to be used, and that nifty bonus they offer on purchases.

patiently waiting for my TenX card , because i know , they only delay it , not to overload the servers , and build further slowly and steadily !

W8ing on my card aswell, don't forget to post a video on your first transaction. Be great to see this these pop up all over Europe!!

Great post to show how simple things can be. Just ordered my TenX card. Can't wait for it to arrive :)

Very cool TenX - and that is a great kebab shop too :)
I have been using TenX as a great example for people who are skeptical of Cryptos as a way to shop in the "real world" - thank you for sharing!
