Today is my birthday which makes me officially one year grumpier than I was at this time last year and Facebook is already reminding me that people still think it is great to send a reminded greetings message. It is funny really, as I have been almost absent there for a year but, how many people have asked about where I have been? None. As I said, I am a year grumpier so it is okay to complain about these things.
Birthdays are not great big events for me and I generally like to keep things pretty basic and down to earth. Tonight (it is 3am here) our daughter will go and spend the night at her grandparent's place so my wife and I can go out to dinner and see some standup routine. She got ticket's to see Michael Winslow, you know, the guy from Police Academy that makes all the sounds? Yep, I was 5 when that movie came out. It should be fun though, at least something different.
What I am looking forward to tomorrow night though is a really good steak and a glass of wine. It has been ages since we have been to a decent restaurant and I am looking forward to spending some time with my wife without having to rush or have strict schedules. The other thing I am looking forward to is sleeping in. I have no idea when was the last time I had a chance to have a decent nights sleep and laze around in bed in the morning.
I am pretty easy to please and don't need too much to keep me happy in this world. This is lucky considering we don't have too much. It would be terrible to require a lot to be happy but have no way to get it. I think that is one of the marketing tools they use to drive consumption, keep encouraging to get more but making it impossible to ever have enough.
There is plenty in this world for us all to lead decent lives, have some fun, take some responsibility, help, be helped but, doing it is not going to be an easy task. For to do so means the coordination of many and unless aliens attack to threaten all of us, we will keep fighting against ourselves. Perhaps that is what I should wish for when I blow out the birthday candles on my imaginary cake. Aliens.
So, check the skies to see if wishes do come true.

Oh man you lucky dog. I love Police Academy. I literally just did a run through of the police academy movies like a month ago. I would just love to see Michael Winslow in action on the stage.
