RE: FIGHTING FOR BIRTH AND THE FREEDOM OF IT: PART THREE

in #birth7 years ago

Beautiful, Mama. I have been so blessed to have 4 amazing, powerful, drug-free water births at home. With my third, my placenta retained. After about an hour, we decided that we would try a shot of pitocin to try to loosen it up. The cramping from that stuff was horrible. It's terrible, nasty shit. Can't imagine doing actual labor with it.
Thanks for raising awareness about this important issue. I included it in the first article I wrote about smashing the patriarchy. Unnecessary birth intervention is a very basic violation of a woman's - and a baby's - body. And it's very much a patriarchal power play.

Thank you @solarsupermama, I'm trying to get all of information out there so that no matter where a mother decides to have her baby she knows what to expect and also can make informed decisions. Congrats on your 4 homebirths. And I agree it is very much patriarchal power play x. Hope you're having a great start to 2018 x
