Visiting the storks in Summer

The white stork is one of the biggest birds here in Austria and now in winter they are in Africa and live several months there where it is a lot warmer. But in spring / summer they will return here and will bring their new offspring to live. I always like to watch the behavior of the birds and seeing them so close is very nice. I was able to watch them looking for food in the shallow grass and water. Down there at the floodplains of the danube they can find several frogs, snakes, mice and other prey.

Because of these beautiful birds and other birds and animals that can be found there it is always worth a visit to watch and explore the nature and the birds there. I recently bought the Steiner SkyHawk 4.0 Binoculars and the Landove Spotting Scope which I already own for more than a year and both products are very good and nice for bird watching.

For a fast look and during scouting I often use the SkyHawk Binoculars and for Bird watching for example at the river shore or at a Lake I often use my Spotting Scope. These two Optics really help a lot in finding and watching birds and It also makes a lot of fun seeing them so close. Of course I also take my camera with me most of the time. But sometimes I am a bit depressed when I come home from a trip since I often saw so many different birds but only could take pictures of some of them since a lot of them where simply to far away for a good picture.

The spot with the Storks in Lower Austria is a famous destination for families since a lot of parents want to show their children the beauty of nature and see some animals outside of a Zoo. There is a nature education trail and it is part of a wildlife protection and preservation area of the WWF. The Storks live and breed here during the summer months and migrate back to Africa each year in autumn. The build very big nest in the trees or up on roofs of houses.
