Be Careful When Sending HIVE!

It's been a while since I posted here. I invested some family money in HBD over the past few months to benefit form the amazing 20% APR and the family asked for some of it to pay off a loan. I converted the HBD to Hive and started sending it to my Binance account where I traded it for USDT and then used their P2P platform to get it into GBP. This was the most cost effective way I knew and although it was quite fiddly, the price was pretty good and it seemed to work well, although there are a lot of scammers on Binance and they try to get you to release the crypto before they have deposited the money in your account.

On Sunday morning I continued the process and I sent 11700 HIVE to my binance account. I had done it many times that week and thought this was just another transfer. But this time peakd came up with a message saying 'please check that the receiver can accept the coin.' I just thought it was some sort of extra warning that comes up every so often so I just pressed send. The coins never arrived in my binance account.

After contacting binance and looking at the transaction id, they pointed out that I had actually sent 11,700 HBD instead of HIVE!! I was devastated and spent hours on the chat with their various customer service agents. To this day I am not even sure of they were human. They kept on repeating the mantra that they couldn't return the coins because they don't list HBD but one day if HBD is listed I could get it back! I tried to reason with them and explained that the HIVE ecosystem is unique and that they have the HBD sitting in their HIVE account for all to see (https://wallet.hive.blog/@bdhivesteem/transfers) and they could just simply return it but they refused and kept saying they don't have the ability to do it as it is not a listed coin.

What a horrible set up they are. They are basically a bunch of thieves. No wonder CZ was put in jail. Four months is way too little!

If anyone has any ideas about what I can do, please let me know.

I am also sharing this because it is an easy mistake to make so please be very careful not to send HBD instead of HIVE!!

Sending love to all you committed HIVE lovers.

Regards

Danny
