WikiLeaks is calling for a global blockade on one of the world's largest coinbase trading platforms - after the floor issued a "no explanation".
Cause of the incident:
On April 21, Coinbase sent an e-mail to the WikiLeaks Shop, declining to provide services to Wikileaks and forcing them to transfer the full amount of money off the floor.
"Coinbase is now a Money Services Business, managed by FinCEN, and as part of achieving that goal, we have the legal obligation to impose regulatory compliance mechanisms.
After a thorough review, we believe that your account has charged prohibited conduct in our Terms of Service, and we regret to inform you that we will not be able to provide you with the service. more. We ask that you follow the instructions below when logging into Coinbase to transfer all remaining funds to an off-the-shelf platform."
Retaliation:
Wikileaks responds almost immediately upon receiving a message from Coinbase. In a tweet, WikiLeaks leaders have called on the codec community to stop using the platform.
In addition, some social media users have voiced their abandonment of the platform, accusing them of censorship.
Coinbase is no stranger to controversy and conflicting opinions - the deal is facing a lawsuit when it is allegedly involved in insider trading.
