How to score FREE Whaleshares while catching up on all the latest news on Bitshares and other Crypto Projects

So you may have heard of Whaleshares, Whaleshares is a Bitshares asset that can be used to receive up votes from Steem whales.

This is not the official logo but it is my personal favorite from the Logo Contest

The Whaleshares project is still in beta phase and being tested by the community involved in the Whaleshares project and the Beyond Bitcoin radio show/mumble.

Each week Beyond Bitcoin catches up using Mumble (Mumble is an open source voice communication application) in a town hall style environment where project can deliver updates and take question from the audience. Everyone is free to ask questions via voice or chat and time permitting the question will be answered by the project presenting. Each week their is an RSVP post on Steem that projects or people list their intent to speak and the community up votes the projects to decide the order at which they get to speak. Projects/speakers also get Whaleshares for their efforts as well as the rewards from people backing their RSVP.

During the Beyond Bitcoin show the host @officialfuzzy will reveal a 'Magic word' in the chat and ask everyone to fill out the guestbook for this week. People who correctly fill out the guestbook and Magic word will receive Whaleshares for attending.

Getting prepared to receive your free Whaleshares

1. Get Mumble Setup and mark your calendar

Be connected online and listening during the Beyond Bitcoin Hangout at 2:00PM UTC. If your interested the Bitshares hangout occurs 1 hour prior at 1:00PM UTC

Step 3: Connect to the Beyond Bitcoin server using the following information

Pro Tip: if you have a microphone connected and want to speak be sure to enable Push to Talk in the Mumble settings

2. Get a Bitshares Account

You will need a Bitshares account to receive your tokens.

Let me first start by saying - DO NOT SKIP THE BACKUP PROCESS!
Your Bitshares account is YOUR account, nobody is in control except YOU. This mean you need to be responsible and BACKUP. There are two login models Wallet or Account.

Account model:

Account model is like a traditional website where you can just use a username and password (use a strong password). Technically your keys are derived from your username and password.
Backup Requirement: Username and password

Wallet model:

Wallet Model give you more control and security as it randomly derives your keys
Technically your keys are stored encrypted in your browser cache. so if you clear your cache you will need to restore your backup from the brain seed or the .bin file

Backup Requirement: Username, password and a wallet backup (.bin file) and/or brain seed; keep all these details somewhere safe.

How to use the Whaleshares to upvote your favorite Steem posts

• Go to Whaleshares.net and follow the steps on screen.

• Once completed you will use your Bitshares wallet to send your whaleshare tokens to the whale of your choice with the memo specified on Whaleshares.net

• Easy as that
