When i saw this post, a friend asked me to vote him! After doing that i went through the post and ask my self why not contest. It turned out my front camera was a mess so i use a client phone to take a selfie then transfer to my phone. Please never mind my colleague behind me lol!

Several research shows that the word "selfie" originated in Australia with a young drunk
Nathan Hope, known as Hopey first using the word to describe a self-portrait photograph ( SELF.... - a picture taken by one self - ie... A known slang common among Australians) far back the year 2002. He went for a mate's 21st birthday — and had a little accident. He had some stitches and later went on an online forum to chat (as Hopey) to ask about the dissolvable stitches. When asked more about what he was talking about, he too a "SELFIE" Self shot to show his lower lip that was hurt.
No one really gave interest to the word then. The word is connected to social media and photosharing, meanwhile people have been producing Self-portraits far back 1839 (e.g Robert Cornelius) in philadelphia as an amateur chemist and photographer. It wasn't instantaneous as we have today.
That's how the word 'selfie' got into the English language. The usage of the word "selfie" grew slowly at first, but then took o In November 2013, it was declared that over the previous year, the usage of 'selfie' had increased by an astonishing 17,000 per cent.

This selfie that i share here it is a very special one for me. I took this one last November 2017 during my first trip to South África. Was a dream come true and to make my first safari inside the kragga kamma game reserve was perfect. Our guide was amazing and she introduce ourselves to this handsome male jiraffe who seems to be very happy to pose in our selfies. He was very relaxed and calm all the time while he was trying to be the star in each picture we took.

This is my selfie after we had a back-to-back-to-back win during the Feast celebration here in our place. We were champion on the Folk dance Competition, Street Dancing Competition and Payag Making Competition. I am still wearing make up in that selfie because I took that right after the awarding. It was really fulfilling! All of our hardwork has been paid of. All of our sacrifices are all worth it! That is the smile of a Champion!
