I don't need the sky, just a reliably functional platform for uploading videos. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of decentralization and appreciate what DTube is trying to do and I wish it all the best. I just got tired of uploading videos that ultimately failed half the time with no rhyme or reason that was obvious. It's just too frustrating and time consuming. Trying to watch videos often isn't much better. I'll revisit it when it has matured a little.

Since I saw first hand how Cisco Systems was used to buy out tribe.net back in the early days and then quickly moved to destroy it, I saw how the controllers of this planet intended to shut down free discussion online. I have documented (see my DTube and Steemit posts) recently how my comments on Facebook were deleted in realtime, how I lost the ability to post at all and how Facebook never even gave a reason. I have seen similar on Youtube and G+. Even Steemit has sadly shown a similar pattern for me after the technical manager 'Sneak' stated openly he will heavily flag anyone dissenting from the government position on vaccinations. This is an ugly situation, but the good news is that even the tech manager of Steemit cannot silence those who concentrate power in the name of free discussion and transparency. The worst he can do is insert functionality into Steemit which surreptitiously shuts down free speech - however, other sites can replace Steemit.com if that occurs. Many others have commented on this and it is clear that numerous people are well aware that this could snowball into a major problem.

My experience so far on Steemit and DTube has showed me the extent of the suppression. My message is exploding again.
Yes, the same for me. I actually created my own social network and it was delisted by Google Search. Google received a 2.1 billion euro fine for exactly this behavior a few months ago and I am considering legal action myself.
YT has been going downhill in many ways for 10 years now. Upgrades that were actually downgrades, year after year. Functions removed. Virality controlled. G+ required to comment.
Hell, they went as far as to make my ratings stop counting. First, about 4 years ago, my downvotes stopped registering. Then about 2 years ago, my upvotes went too.
The censorship is rampant and blatant. It's like they aren't playing a long game anymore. They know we know they're up to no good, and they know we can't stop them... yet. Steemit is a gamechanger just like internet-at-home was 25 years ago.
No one controls anything, lest you actively give them that power.

I really can't believe this is happening in America. I left all those platforms a while ago. I figure continuing to use them is enabling them, and I become part of the problem. Steemit/Dtube and Bitchute are all I use anymore.
Same for the most part. It has saddened me to have to "disconnect" from some of my favorite content creators, but the Youtube crackdown is horrifying and I will not give them any more clicks from now on. I cringe a little when I see people on steemit linking to YT instead of Dtube videos.
Well I have to say it irritates me when creators complain about the censorship, then continue to only post over there. And yes, posting over here but linking YT is quite silly. I guess it will take time.
D.tube ain't perfect(yet)(low res, can be slow at time, low userbase, etc...) so I understand the creator who are still between both. Let's not forget this is still beta software.
I believe DTube just finished the upgrade to HD video.
I understand too, it's the people who only post on the platforms who are censoring. If you want to complain, fine, but at least make steps to move somewhere else.

This is exactly why I recently joined steemit. I Being what may be called far left, my independent journalists were getting demonized and deleted from social sites. Happy I joined. Cant wait for all Independent journalist voices jump on so I can not use the sponsored mega-sites.

My channel on YouTube was active for 10 years without any strikes, but in January I suddenly received two strikes on the same day for an innocent video I made and posted three years ago! My channel was not only suspended, my appeal was denied without explanation.

Just joking. The mass adoption to these new platforms has not happened yet. Hopefully the great content produced by Ben and his team continues to garner interest in alternative platforms like these. Everyone knows censorship on the old platforms is happening.

Whether that be a mention within news stories, or the inclusion of a SteemIT / Dtube social media logo. It's important to get the message out to existing subscriber bases now (and get it out loud), before you no longer can talk to them at all.
I closed my accounts on Facebook and Twitter. I don't want to support the corruption. If everyone stopped using them, they'd simply dry up and blow away.

yep. It IS a purge. I've lost several videos from my YouTube Channel and posts from my Facebook account. I have 4 friends- who are also alternative media reporters like myself, who've had their entire YT accounts deleted, or lost multiple videos.... just vanished .

Both sites had their channels blocked, their videos deleted and after reaction form channel owners (Youtube was in the wrong) they got their channels back but without important videos.
Luckily, archives were shared and downloaded. Silly Youtube.
