Spain

The Spanish Supreme Court handed down prison sentences of between nine and 13 years to nine Catalan independence leaders for their part in a failed attempt to split from Spain in 2017. This lead to wide spread protests in Barcelona for the past week. Here is how the police has been handling it:

This is the worst police violence ever seen in the EU for people doing nothing more than casting out a vote.

France

Around 30 yellow vest protesters have lost eyes or hands during clashes with police over the past six months, putting the government under growing pressure to ban controversial weapons.

Belgium

Belgium has a long history of police violence and Belgian climate activist were reminded of this just one week ago, while they were brutally arrested without warning during a peaceful demonstration in Brussels. Video's of police pepper spraying a cuffed man laying helpless on the ground made the national news:
