#BeerSaturday - 6 Brewery Tours in a Single Day!

It is week 381 for #beersaturday so I will endeavor to visit 6 craft breweries in a single day!

I have come to find, being The Blockchain Beerologist definitely has its perks, including but not limited to getting paid to tour breweries and sample new beers! When I am not globetrotting or brewing my own beer, my fridge looks like a colorful mosaic of regional craft beer I enjoy sharing with the #beersaturday alliance of #beer bloggers on #hive.

This week, we are doing a dry run of a beer exchange outing that happens at the end of November. Can I survive visiting 6 breweries in one day?

The Pint of the Week is a foamy highlight in Beerology! What we do is hit the town and enjoy a social pint, which is probably the best way to enjoy a beer. This week, the whole post is filled with pints of the week! This one was the first of many on the day as we visited our first brewery of the day. I opted for the harvest pale ale with hops grown regionally. Not bad. The one on the left was a really nice Coffee Pale Ale and right was a milk stout. Giddy up!

Shakespeare Brewing Company

Maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself. The first stop on our cross country bar hop this weekend was Shakespeare Brewing Company about 10 minutes drive from our town. It was a lovely day and we picked this spot because it is on a central road and has a nice sized parking lot so we can gather here at the end of November for the real thing.

You see, we are organizing a beer exchange with 24 people who will gather here first on our big day. We will visit 6 different breweries in our tour and wrap up in the evening where we have dinner, a couple pints, and everyone exchanges the beer they selected and everyone walks home with 24 different beers for an advent calendar. Pretty neat huh?

MadMash Brewing

The next stop on our dry run of the tour was about 10 more minutes down the road, in a town called Tavistock which is home to Madmash Brewing This is another very new and small brewery that I had not actually visited yet. Neat to see these pop up in small towns in modest facilities and I was looking forward to discovering this one.

Inside, the guys were busy polishing glasses and working in this rustic, grass roots bar. They brew onsite, have a kitchen with some authentic Scottish food, and also have live music almost weekly.

I opted for another Ontario pale ale with hops grown just outside of town. It really wasn't very good but definitely different tasting. My friends ordered themselves some lunch and enjoyed the meal an their pints.

Broken Rail Brewing

Next up, we head 29km / 18 Miles to the west to visit Broken Rail Brewing in sunny and warm St. Marys. A popular spot on a warm autumn day with their cottage chairs and picnic tables to gather with the community for a pint.

It is an old railway station steeped in plenty of history including the embarking point of all of our soldiers for the last world war. So many never came back home and it is a bit of a privilege to visit this place socially for a couple pints.

I opted for a Mow the Lawn Session IPA as we were definitely in a session today. It was early afternoon and I was already 3 pints deep. This bright and delicious beauty went down rather quickly and we still had 3 more breweries to visit.

Does the story unfurl messily from here? Did I manage to make it to the next breweries and to the end? Was I a slurring mess with beer spilled all over my shirt? You may have to tune into next week's conclusion to find out.

Which brewery do you think looked the best?

Sort:

That's like the Via Crucis of a beerologist :) Hard not to fall at the end :))

I was paying for it yesterday I tell ya. The things I won’t do for the beer and #beersaturday crew!

Hahahahah... Definitely has its perks... it is hard work, but satisfying... 😂

Your "adventure" reminded me of the movie The World's End... 😃 Luckily, you didn't find aliens at the last brewery... 😃

We held onto it for this long session as a dry run. The real thing at the end of November with another 20 people joining us might be the worlds end!

Greetings @zekepickleman ,

How could one go wrong with a name like 'Shakespeare Brewing Company'...one would just hope to live up to it....right!

The Mad Mash piques Bleujay's interest even though you did not find the beer that tasty...the interior with its Welsh flag and Scottish fare would have me there at least for lunch.

As a History buff....and with the greatest respect for Military Soldiers, Bleujay would definitely find Broken Rail Brewing a most interesting place to have a pint...Your choice of beer sounded quite lovely. ....and such a striking, clean atmosphere...not to be missed.

This sounds like a progressive lunch. ^__^

Cheers, Bleujay

Oh if you like history, the second chapter of this adventure should appeal to you! Probably drop that one on Sunday as I am out of town next #beersaturday.
