Having an addiction to matte lipstick I could not resist temptation and had to try out LA Girl Matte Flat Velvet Lipsticks. I happily discovered that these lippies are cruelty free as well as being affordable.
The lipsticks are packaged in high gloss black tubes, embossed with bold gold writing and the lipcolor is conveniently visible on the lid. I love that you can easily see the colors as it makes searching through your collection that much easier.
The shades are awe-inspiring ranging from pink, coral, red, blue and black. My most loved shades from this range are pink, coral and nude. I purchased Arm Candy, Blessed, Hot Stuff, Hush, Sunset Chic, Frisky and Sweet Revenge. My go to colors are Sweet Revenge and Frisky - both shades being simultaneously sweet and sexy.
When swatching in the drugstore, I noticed that some of the colors were inconsistent in quality. Some colors were buildable while other colors were not. I found most of the lighter shades opaque and buildable however some of the the darker shades became more difficult to obtain an even color. Some shades were also a bit patchy, so just ensure lips are well conditioned and don't forget to use a lip liner!
When applying the lipstick it feels delicately creamy and smooth but after application it feels slightly dry. The formula contains hydrating Shea Butter however I found these lipsticks to be slightly dehydrating.
The fragrance is a very subtle, sweet vanilla which I absolutely adore.
The lipstick does have some staying power but Revlon's HD Matte Lipcolor wins hands down in this regard.
Although there are some negatives, I still love this product for the following reasons: ♥Cruelty free ♥Affordable ♥Radiant shades ♥Luscious vanilla scent
LA Girl Matte Flat Velvet Lipsticks are ideal for daytime wear. The angelic pinks and sultry coral shades are perfect to use, when going on a dreamy lunch date or frolicking on the beach.
