#BeautifulSunday: A visit to Rolf's Place, a hotel at the edge of a CLIFF and a NATIONAL PARK in Kenya

in #beautifulsunday7 years ago

Hello Steemians,
Today I decided to share my #beautifulSunday experience with you guys. My pals and I decided to have a meet up at Rolf's place, a hotel on the South east boarder of Nairobi National park. The hotel is built like a medieval fortress on the edge of a cliff. I looove anything medieval, good food, good company and a scenic place. Hitting two birds (or maybe 4)with one stone, right?☺

The view at Rolf's Place is simply breathtaking. The entrance to the hotel is a swinging bridge separating the national park and the hotel. Pretty much, it is this bridge that brought us here!!

We were ushered into the hotel by the warmest staff ever. On entering the hotel, the ambience took me away! The interior decor, the intricate details on the walls, to the pictures, the warmth of the colours inside had me like, "I'm moving in here!"

We were shown to our table. Everyone was pretty much excited, lots of jokes and laughter was going on. We love ourselves some good 'nyama choma'(Swahili word for roast meat). Simply put, it's never a party without nyama choma. The Maasai people live on these sides of the city and are really good with roasting meat! No lie!

Our platters soon arrived. They had chicken, sausages, liver, goat meat and pork. Yum!!😋

You can either accompany it with fries or ugali(a maize flour meal prepared to dough-like consistency). Ugali is the staple food in Kenya. The dish would come with a side dish of veggies or salad.

We had the best time ever! Experiencing the fresh air away from the city, a scenic view of the park, oh did i mention the food was amazeballs! We actually didn't finish the meat, they packed it up for us. Lol!

On our way back to the city, we met a herd of zebras. Aren't they beautiful?😊
