Thank you so much for your kind words. Even though I was born in Southern California I never went farther south than Tijuana when I was young so I have never done Puerto Vallarta or anywhere else on the West Coast. Playa Del Carmen caught my attention originally about 20 years ago when I first started making enough money that I could vacation farther away than the Jersey Shore. Now keep in mind this is a lifetime ago, but two of us went all inclusive with round trip airfare from Philadelphia through Dallas and we were there for 10 nights and 11 days for just over $2,100. We spent about $200 in total while we were there. You can't even rent a house at the shore for a week for that amount of money. I was so amazed I couldn't say no. It was the best decision I ever made. I fell in love with the area the locals the cuisine and the peaceful and quiet atmosphere and I knew right then and there that this is where I belong. Over the past few years I have started formulating a plan to retire there. The one main takeaway from Playa del Carmen is you see a lot of Canadian and US tourists, more so than any other demographic. As I spoke to more and more people while I was there the underlying theme was that after a few days most of us fat Americans would kill for a cheeseburger and a normal beer with no x's in the name. People seemed to get salsa'd out really quickly. I want to open a little bar right on the beach called The Sandbar and all I plan on serving is a few different beers, delicious burgers, and some yummy seasoned french fries. That's it. Well and maybe margaritas. That's it.
As far as the ruins in Tulum they are beautiful and only about an hour south along the coast. A perfect drive. And there are a bunch of Cenotes in that area as well that are so picturesque there is no accurate way to describe.
As for the pictures I will try what you said to see if they show up in the post. On the website I see it as my header picture, but in the app it does not show.

Yes, I can see the picture as the post image, but on the post it just comes up as a placeholder, implying that there should be a picture there.
Try steemimg.com or postimage.org ... edit the post, and put the link in.
Apparently there are certain places in Chiapas where you can buy beachfront property for 1000 pesos per 1 square metre. It might not be the right place for you, if you want to serve food to tourists, but it's something to consider.
