Thanks for the info I have been watching this for a while and posted about it once or twice. They have said that BATs are not meant to be a store of value, they will have utility as a part of this new advertising model. There must be a way to exchange them and they certainly will have value but I am interested to see where this project goes. I for one would love be paid in Satoshis for watching ADs, or have the ability to use the service to advertise. I have been using the Brave web browser since January and it is AMAZING.

They also said smart contracts would never get hacked because they would all be so short that there would be no security holes.

What does BAT make special in your point of view? Why invest here instead of others?
I am on the same boat, I am lacking to find why we should move to this instead of normal advertising. I am hoping that someone creates a pros and cons chart for this coin vs normal tokens.
That is the part you need to research. I did my research and made my decision. I could be wrong, in which case I will be responsible for my mistake. So should you.

Where is the value in your posting? If any, then it qualifies as an advertisement and I don't know who needs more of that.
Value would be an analysis or at least some little peace about the "why it's good in your point of veiw". And if others decide to invest or not that is not your concern or responsibility indeed. That's everyones own decission. You do not need to fear that.
I see by now you made $300 with this posting. Only explanation I have is, people rate the relationship on autopilot, not the content of posting. If you see the value in your post I missed then I'm more than happy to hear your point of view and maybe reconsider.
Of course, if you're some crypto-guru who only has to point at something and everyone knows "if that guy is pointing at something it will be the next big thing", yeah then go for it buddy. My apologies.
Everything I wanted to write about BAT is in my post. I am not a financial adviser. Where did I say it's the next big thing? if I tell you why I think it's a good investment for myself, you would probably laugh. But here it is, business potential zero, I really do not care about that. Use Case zero, I do not care about that neither. Long term potential zero, yes you guessed it I do not care.
Price ~1400 SATS per token, supply 1 billion, 1.5 billion with what is not actually sold, those are the two factors I considered in my decision.
I am not a crypto-guru and do not claim to be one, but I do well in my assumptions. I have never received payment to advertise any ICO, I am willing to do so though, given there is a potential in it for people to make money.

Good advise, but I think the market runs off the whales who do interviews like on Dollar Vigilante. Its amazing to see this growth so fast. I think several companies offer something for what they are selling like: PIVX, Steemit, Ethereum and of course Bitcoin. Everyone is on to Ripple w/o even knowing what/who is behind it. Be cautious because one big bust can bring this all to an end!!!

I'm still new to crypto but am always hesitant to be the first in. I'm reminded of a line from a comic (maybe decades ago) about virgins but you can apply it to virgin coins too. "A virgin?!?!, No thanks; let Captain Kirk be the first to go where no man has gone before." With that said, there will still be hordes of speculators who will dive right in.
All it boils down to is Risk Vs Reward. No approach is wrong, when it comes to this.

Thanks for the warning. I recently discovered ICOs and is very interested in the many roles some token do in certain companies. Since I'm a very emotional person when it comes to investing, I find I regret it after I've made my purchase, wondering if I did the right thing each time. 😔 I went for the MobileGo token which is a token for the 'dual blockchain' gaming platform. I am already using brave browser for the last couple of days and actually am satisfied with it. Bat is developed by Mozilla's co-founder which is a huge plus in my book .
Brenden Eich is lead developer on BAT (Basic Assistance token). He also wrote JavaScript (Massive), Mozilla & Firefox and now the Brave browser. My first think when I am looking at a new company is the timing, leadership, idea, and vision. This is shaping up to be a good one.

like I said earlier, I am being a little picky lately, I tend to miss some ICO's because of the timing, does not mean I missed them because they have no potential for profit, but some just fall on the wrong day.
yeap. I understand. Any insights about Bancor? I think they have a pretty good team and the concept is just mind-blowing.
The problem I see now with ICO's is that for the short term, everything seems to work. Even money grabs for which 90% of these ICO's are. Working for the short term does not mean these projects are viable or will last. I am expecting a major crash in the token market and a run to the bank on ETH at one point. I tend to stay in one ico or two at the most. So I do not research more than two. The reason for that is simple, if I am up on TEN ICO's and a crash happens, I do not want to be in more than two at the most. So long term I look at these tokens with great doubt as to their potential. I do not stay on one token more than a week at the most. Get in Get out as quick as you can. The only project I am holding long term at the moment is Qtum, and another project that I will hold long term is EOS. Everything else is a temporary trade.
oh wow. I did not see it this way. I don't get into many. only those with long prospect and a good team. I am in at 6 right now and they are for the longterm. I never flip/trade anws. not my thing.

It is my hope the community policies itself properly. These ICOs offer great opportunity however, lots of potential problems fraud. We do not need the regulators to get involved...ugh!
Icos are dangerous. But research carefully and no worries.
I also heard about bat and rumors are always good in the crypto world! I think a small investment will not do any harm. I'm always careful and invest how much I can afford!

I bought into the peerplays ICO, i am hoping the price goes up sharply im the next few days. I looked at the BAT ICO but felt it was not as good as some other upcoming ones i am lookingat like excudo

I heard there were questionable increases of the BAT cap and friends are suspicious. This is literally all I know, just putting it out there. If you want to buy it you should do your research anyway so I don't feel guilty for FUD'ing. I'm not buying any anyway I'm buried under piles of random altcoins and taking a break from icos. anyway, thanks and good luck.
