The Arizona Diamondbacks trading Danby Swanson to the Braves from Shelby Miller is could go down as one of the worst trades of the past 20 years as we see Swanson maturing at the plate and flashing his brilliant glove from time to time. That guys will turn heads throughout the season and end up as a possible MVP canidate once his skills catch up to his potential over the next 5 years.

I'm still not sold on Swanson yet. Right now he looks good, but his peripheral numbers suggest he's more of the same and kind of getting lucky, after I checked up on him again. Still, Shelby Miller...that Cardinals rotation a few years ago of Martinez, Miller, and Wacha, everyone thought they were the next Smoltz, Maddux, Glavine combo. Oh how wrong they were.
Swanson will prove himself this year. Still only 24 years old we haven't seen the best of him yet. I think he'll have a great opportunity with guys like Freeman and Inciarte around him to reach his potential early. Last year he was trying to swing out of his cleats to power the team to victory but with Freeman healthy again and the lineup ranking 5th in BA and 9th in fewest Ks, he'll be able to be more patient. Not sure where in the standings they'll be by the end of the year, but this team will be worth the ticket price with Swanson being a key reason for that. Looking forward to reading more about baseball from you.
