আওড়ান, বোঝা দায়। কখনো-বা ইতস্তত ঢিল
দেন ছুঁড়ে, গায়ে তাঁর শতচ্ছিন্ন অদ্ভুত পিরান,
পদযুগ নগ্ন ধূলিম্লান। পিরানের ভাঁজে ভাঁজে,
দ্যাখে পুরবাসী, ঝলসিত কী যে নক্ষত্রের মতো
সর্বক্ষণ। গাত্রাবাস আমোদিত অনেক বিরান
প্রান্তর এবং জলাভূমির প্রাচীন গন্ধে। বাজে
শরীর বীণার মতো; মুকুট শোভিত সমুন্নত
মাথা তাঁর। ব্যবসায়ী, ফড়ে, হা-ঘরে, চাকুরে
লোলুপ তাকিয়ে থাকে; উদাসীন তিনি যান দূরে।
