Hello friends, my name is Alaba Odedina, my daughter, Adedoyin Odedina introduced me to Steemit 9 months ago and I received a warm welcome from good people on Steemit community, like @roleerob, @mhm-philippines and many wonderful people😄.
Here is my introduction post link and video: https://steemit.com/inintroducemyself/@alabaodedina/introducing-myself-to-steemit-video
As a senior citizen and retiree from the Ministry of education (you can read about it in my introduction post)boredom became my friend so, I finally gave in to my daughter's(who had become a pest)request to join Steemit community.
Me, 2018, during a merit award from my secondary school since the 60's.
I found the platform quite interesting because, I refused to allow my children make me join Facebook and Instagram(I'm too old for that)😁
I soon found purpose and fulfilment writing and sharing articles here from personal experiences and others experiences.
But, then I was diagnosed with a serious illness(one of my organs was failing), was hospitalised for a while and was later going for regular treatment. I will not disclose the nature of the illness for privacy reasons.
It was a painful process for me and my children. My eldest child Adedoyin, had to do several odd jobs to be able to take care of her siblings, pay their school fees and attempt to pay for my treatment and later operation.

I instructed her not to solicit for help from Steemit platform and to keep it a private family affair.
Good friends and family were able to raise money(about N2.5million/almost $7,000) and I had a transplant surgery and I am recovering well from the experience, although I use a walking stick for support.
Although I am a widower bored with myself, I find fulfilment in my children's happiness.

My first son schools in another state and couldn't attend.
Sorry, this post is long, but, my keyboard seems to be my closest friend now, as my children find my long talks boring or annoying.😄
I hope to write more often, share my experiences and lessons learnt and make friends in the community.
All pictures belong to my family.
Thanks for your patience in reading my post this far.
