How to dress your baby pretty, warm and cosy during winters?
Mittens Check! Cap Check! Socks Check! …..Oh no!!! Did I miss something again? Do you also find yourself in a similar dilemma? More so, when the weather is already sending a chill down the spine? Do not stress! Read on to know how to prepare your infant's winter wardrobe, especially if you live in a place known for its cold winters!

Here is the list:

  1. A Hat or Knitted Cap:
To keep your little one's head warm and protect his/her ears from the frigid wind you need a nice, warm hat or a cap. This helps your infant maintain his/her body temperature.

It's the best dress to cover your infant from neck to toe! You can buy one-piece suit with or without foot. A footed suit helps your infant stay warm throughout the night and they cannot remove the socks too (you know what I am talking about). If you have babies who shove away the cloth wrap you put on them, then this is a must-have for you. While most of them are in cottons or soft baby friendly materials, you find the flannel layered ones too useful for winters!

These will keep your infant's hands and toes cosy in the chilling winter. Moreover, the tiny mittens will protect your infant from accidental scratches by him/her and prevent thumb sucking as a habit. Again, this is available both in cloth and woollen varieties.

Baby woollens usually fit comfortably over your infant's onesie or bodysuit and adds a perfect top layer of warmth, which is much needed to beat the cold. There are so many varieties of jackets or sweaters in the market, pick one which is comfortable and easily washable (it will get dirty before you know).

Warm bottoms make playtime more fun in winters. Stock up stretchy or adjustable waistbands that fit easily over your infant's diaper and belly. There are thermo pants available which are soft from inside and robust from outside.

Put a fleece bag or a sack zip over your infant's sleepwear and keep them really snug on a particularly chilly winter night. They replace traditional blankets, which aren't particularly safe for infants as they may wriggle under the covers of the blanket in the night and run the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

• Dress your infant just as you're dressed, in different layers. Like, if you're wearing a tee, light sweater, and pants, put your infant in a long-sleeved onesie, a one piece suit and knitted sweater. You can remove a couple of the top layers if it tends to get warm on some day.
• Don't overdo at nights, keep 1-2 layers and zip them in sleeping bag. Infants cannot maintain their temperature, overheating can increase higher risk of SIDS.
• You can find if your infant needs another layer by touching his/her feet. If it feels too warm, remove a layer or add one if it's too cold.
• Try to warm your infant's bed with a heating pad, don't forget to remove it before your infant goes to sleep!
Women usually love shopping, but when we shop for our children, there's an added zing t it! So happy shopping Mommies and start stocking your wardrobes to beat the cold this winter!
