Strange storms causing asthma attacks in Australia and now Kuwait. What is up?

I have started to notice stories about storms in connection with high cases of asthma symptoms. Over 8000 people were treated in Australia and now there's reports coming from Kuwait and Australia just alerted everyone to be prepared for a second storm.

Anyone else have any information related to this phenomenon and other areas being affected by storm induced asthma?
