February 6, Day 4: Mystery Bay to Hyams Beach
The sunrise that began our day was unlike anything I've ever seen. Golden and orange with sun rays shooting in 360 degrees from the glowing orb, painting the blue sea otherworldly hues of liquid gold. I'm still getting used to seeing the sunrise out of the sea and I am so grateful to be able to experience it.
A short jaunt down the empty beach was perfect to warm up the muscles and awaken the mind. The soft morning light soothed us with its sweetness and we took our first swim in the ocean.
Bidding our kangaroo friends farewell we hopped in our little Kia and drove away from 1080 beach lookout. Getting back on the highway we began our journey north. Today was the day of beaches. It seemed that every five minutes there was another road leading to another incredibly and unique beach. We had to see them all!
Potato Point Road leading to Potato Point was too funny not to go check out and the road leading through the forest to get there was gorgeous with tall eucalyptus trees reaching high to the heavens letting the late morning sunlight peek through their leaves.
It just so happened that less than a kilometer north of Potato Point there was a fun little wave at Blackfellows Point. When we got there two guys were out surfing, but by the time we pulled the boards out of the car and put on our bikini and board shorts, respectively, the wave was empty. What a magical place to surf. Water so clear we could see the shadows of our boards and no one else in the water.
After surfing we kept hopping up the coast, stopping in every pull out to check the waves and feast our eyes on a new beach. Turros Head beach provided us with a picnic area for lunch.
I've been doing my best to remember the names of all the places we stop at, but today I lost track. We stopped at simply too many beaches. It is the most amazing feeling to have no plan and be able to stop where ever and whenever we feel like it. We have discovered so many places by just turning down a road and seeing where it leads.
An afternoon nap in the sun was much needed and well deserved, we've been on the road for some days now and the tiredness seems to be creeping up on us.
Around four we were getting hungry again so I found an organic market and cafe with organic vegan cuisine, juices, and hot teas. Chicho's throat has been a bit scratchy, so he got a ginger, clove, and lemongrass tea for soothing and healing.
Long Beach was the next stop after tea time, where we swam then gladly rinsed off in the freshwater shower. Ooo it feels good to be clean!
Northward again, stopping at beaches, walking down pathes, running in the sand, enjoying the freedom of this life. We have no plan, nowhere to be, and nothing to do, but explore the unknown.
Our final stop of the day was Hyams Beach, supposedly the whitest sand beach in the world. We got there just as the light was fading into dusk. The sand glowed clean and white with turquoise blue water lapping on shore.
As we found a place to park the Kia for the night I marveled at how quickly the days begin to float by us. Time doesn't stop for anyone. Day fades into night and night brightens into a fresh morning. We are lucky to be here in Australia, drinking in new sights and taking every possible road that presents itself to us. Take advantage of each and every moment because before you know it that day will set with the sun.
Creeflow on with good vibes only.
Very nice. I like that third photo especially, it has drama and depth.
Thank You!:)
awesome post and vibes!!!!! when I was going to ask about the surfing I saw the surfboard :) keep it coming and keep in touch
Thanks!!! I will
I adore your description of the sunrise. This is one of my favourite parts of New South Wales. The way you did it is awesome. Pottering along checking out all the beaches. I was a bit disappointing by Hyam's beach white sand. I don't reckon its the whitest in the world at all. Still a gorgeous beach and stunning clear water.
I said the same thing about Hyams! It doesn't seem too much whiter than the other beaches haha but it's still incredibly beautiful :)
Wery nice pictures i like the second one best if you like abstract art check chupapic;) i"we followed upvoted keep up the good work
