Flesh in this context is beyond the body,it is a state where the soul submit or fall under the control of any other drivers besides the Holy Spirit. In this state and position, the mind is set on the flesh /body comfort /situation around you /message of the body senses, making the soul not submissive to God law. Flesh is affection and desire that run contrary to God plan and purpose for your life. This flesh took dominant after the fall of man. Initial before the fall of man. It was the spirit that was leading /dominating.ie Spirit, Soul, And Body. But after the fall, it becomes Body, Soul, And Spirit. which implies that now it is body that dorminates and not the spirit. This is why the Lord Jesus demanded that man must be born again with water and spirit and be regenerated to God original plan for man at creation
