Atlantis: Myth or Truth?...5

From Plato's Critias:

“ And their kingdom extended as far as Egypt and Tyrrhenia. Now Atlas had a fair posterity, and great treasures derived from mines—among them that precious metal orichalcum; and there was abundance of wood, and herds of elephants, and pastures for animals of all kinds, and fragrant herbs, and grasses, and trees bearing fruit. These they used, and employed themselves in constructing their temples, and palaces, and harbours, and docks,”

Atlantis was a rich land. Precious metals were abundant and it looked like a tropical place. Elephants were plentiful. Does this mean that Atlantis was close to the Equator? Lets keep in mind that we could be talking about a kingdom that flourished during the last glaciation period, when most of the planet was covered in ice.

The description of elephants is particularly interesting because it limits the number of geographical regions where Atlantis could be located.
