Examining and confronting the self through analytical processing produces personal growth. Whatever we think and experience emotionally is a choice we make, by conditioned response. Somewhere in our past we programmed ourselves to react in certain ways when certain things happen. We are not victims of our emotions or our thoughts. These are just programs that are running and these programs can be rewritten, modified and updated. It is extremely important because the old programs and modes of operating can hinder and impair our present day use of talents and abilities in goal achievement. The aspect of you that's hearing what I am saying is just a program that is running. The part of you that is listening to and understanding what I am saying is the true you - your spirit.
We can update those aspects necessary for us to approve of our self, which will allow for our optimum growth. You can be in direct control of your responses to emotional reactions through practice. When you are not directing them, they are driving you. Each time you encounter an adverse value judgment of yourself, you can, and should, address the cause and source. Then, redefine it! Eliminate its emotional power over you and take charge of your life. Through recognizing that updating is required and using effective methods to carry out the project, we can quickly improve ourselves. Here is a hard fact: We are habit oriented in our survival responses and only another habit will replace a habit. Replacing ineffective thought habit patterns with advantageous thought patterns is the most positive use of this program. Self-intervention is a habit that can be learned and implemented and is what you are learning from this program. Achieving competence with this intervention process will prepare you to use it effectively in times of extreme emotions and reactions, which will enable you to improve the full spectrum of experiences in your life. It will also aid and assist you to use your personal powers of manifestation at full strength, which will bring your desired effects into reality faster and easier.
Qualities like adequate self-confidence and self-esteem are essential for successful goal achievement. Personal debilitating and incapacitating habit patterns reinforce the message that the self is inadequate, unable, unworthy, stupid, or inept and therefore ineligible for fulfilled progress. A sense of inadequacy may be a factor involved in our decision-making process, especially if we were very young or naïve at the time crucial events happened. The criteria for deciding if you need an update of your personal self image is quite simple: If you are generally joyful, happy, exuberant, and enthusiastic, in most of your life, then your methods of survival are adequate. If you are unfulfilled, sad, frustrated, angry and unhappy or unhealthy in most aspects of your life, then the survival methods are impaired.
