Why do mindless people let the gonvernment control what they do? We should honestly know what is best for ourselves, and if we want to make certain life decisions that may or may not affect our health; why not let us make those decisions. As people we have inherit rights to do as we please and in the words of Johnathan Loche, "All men have the right to life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness." What more should someone believe. But it seems that the government does not believe in our natural rights. There has been many cases in which we have had these rights infringed upon. But no one seems to care about their rights and go on believing that their government knows best. But what do they really know about us? We should be free to do what we please without having to pay extra or be penalized for what we enjoy. I personally believe that prohibition of any behavior is never going to work and to try it just makes no sense. Everyone bitching about legalized abortion doesn't realize the reason why it was legalized in the first place. The reason why abortion is legal is to protect the women who want to have one. Because back when it was illegal to have an abortion women would get back alley abortions and have operations performed by people who were not by any means medically trained. These practices lead to higher death and injury rate for women. To decrease these rates the government decided that women for whatever reason were going to want abortions so, why not make it safe and legal for them to do so? And that is the reason why abortion is legal to this day. Making it illegal to do so today would cause the same problems that it did back then. This is just one case as to why laws against certain things make no sense. Another one would be the prohibiton of alcohol in the 1920's. After alcohol was banned in the United States, alcohol poisioning rates increased. There were more people drinking and more people dying because of it. By the end of the era they finally realized that the prohibition wasn't working. Case in point of modern times, more people smoke pot in states where it is illegal than states where it is legal. In conclusion we should legalize more things because reguardless of the law people are going to conduct themselves in that manner and if they are going tk do it anyway, why not make it legal for them to do so. If we can legalize those things, maybe it would decrease the amount of people who do them and make it safer for those who do.
