So many paintings are displayed in the gallery, in exhibitions and in the studio of the painters so it is not easy for us to choose which is the most thrilling and appropriate for the collection.

In the first few years when I started collecting paintings I was inclined to buy whatever was of interest and as per the available funds. In short as long as I like it then I will buy it.

But in line with my maturation process as a painting connoisseur and because of the limited funds that can be allocated to buy a painting then I am increasingly able to control myself in deciding to buy a painting.

Now I'm not as impulsive anymore by directly buying artwork that I like. This does not mean I am more able to choose paintings or my initial collection is ugly but rather the demand for controlling the impulsive attitude in buying paintings. Now I just buy a masterpiece that thrills my heart and controls my mind so that I have trouble sleeping or feeling anxious when imagining the work.

I do not limit my collection to names of painters or certain streams because I can enjoy each painting for different reasons from one work to another. I felt a tremendous satisfaction when the young artist I bought his work then got the recognition of other art lovers. I get the pleasure of being able to precede the times by successfully collecting potent painter's work before the painter knows the crowd or becomes popular which is usually followed by the increasing price of his paintings.

If by chance there are some of my collections of several names are also much in the audience of painters, then for me it is just a coincidence. Because I did not buy paintings because of the name of the painter but the work that suits my aesthetic needs.

I judge the painting from the characteristic, the coloring technique, the scratching technique, the composition, the consistency of the style, the object, the style ability in the flexibility of lifting the object up to the philosophy of the painter I 'lyrics'. I also pay attention to the object as well as the history or background of a work. Is merely the emotional outlet of the artist or conceptualized in such a way as to have other moral or social messages that have been well thought by the painter. I always try to know and understand the character and mindset of a painter before deciding to buy his work because for me painting is not only a beautiful work of art but moreover must have meaning in life and contain honesty in its process.

I like paintings that have or give many interpretations and especially those with social or moral messages. Not just chasing beauty. Good artwork for me is a work of art that can tell a lot about many things depending on the mood and spirit of the audience while enjoying the work so that it is not just a work that is pleasing to the eye. Good artwork encourages the audience to be able to staring at him for long without feeling bored because it continues to make the audience 'shudder'.

Let's open the eyes and eyes of our hearts in order to enjoy or buy paintings with the eyes of the heart and not with the ears. Never buy a painting and trust someone else to choose a painting that will be displayed in our home or office. Choose a painting that suits your taste or personality and soul. Choose what thrills the heart, soul and mind when we enjoy it, not just pleasing to the eye.

I diligently invite my acquaintances to open up to want and dare to enjoy the artwork. I always emphasize that buying paintings does not have to be of high value but which is highly valued and gives the enjoyment of the heart. I often advise my colleagues to take advantage of empty walls in the home or workroom by displaying the paintings and noticing the differences felt by the presence of a painting in a room.
