During the journey to obtain my MD degree, the histological study of the nervous system and its elements has been one of the most important experiences. This drawing features the morphology of a typical pyramidal neuron, located in the brain cortex. They are responsible of several key motor functions, both in health and disease. I found their dendritic arborizations to be one of the most interesting features of human and animal biology.

Did you know the historic drawings of Cajal?

He was the first who made some pictures of them and earned the Nobel price!

Regards

Of course my friend! Cajal and Golgi shared the 1906 Noble Prize for their outstanding discoveries in neurobiology with silver staining techniques.

This drawing in particular tries to recreate a neuron stained with Golgi's method.

Best Regards!

Well done! If you can write something about the background and add some references you can also receive support by @steemstem (you have to tag it #steemstem)
