The Old Dog Returns to See: More Fanciful Artwork in That Tiny Town!

in #artist8 years ago (edited)

I knew that I would return one day to see more and then life just took me there!

A few weeks ago I published one of my more successful articles wherein I wrote about how I had "discovered" an artist. I had gone to do a quote in Tremona and since I got the job I was "forced" to return!

Here's the article:  The Old Dog Asks: Did One Artist Really Beautify an Entire Town?

I Parked The Car And Here is What I Saw on my Way to The Job!

Again this one covers what would just be a mundane electrical panel: I love the colors and the artist's imagination!

The piece makes up part of this entrance. I love the contrast of the dull old wall with the beautiful light and deep blues!

Here's a closer view of the detail above the arch of the door. What a playful take on the stereotypical muscled men that are so often holding up the weight of structures above them! Notice the depth and the shadows captured with brush strokes!

This piece is on another house just across the lane and it shares the same cloudy theme and wonderful sense of fun! Keep in mind that this is just a flat utility door panel that has been given life and 3 dimensions by the artist! Marti often features a burned matchstick in his paintings!

What Other Surprises are Beyond The Gates And Walls of This Magical Town?

So many walls and gates leading into mysterious courtyards!

So far I've learned that there is another artist in the town and a very prolific sculptor. The man whose house that I worked at today is a film maker. That makes 3 artists that I've "discovered" that are all living on the same little lane way!

What Have You Noticed?

  • Have you noticed that like people often group together?
  • Do you know of any artist's enclaves or communities?
  • Have you explored them?

I hope that you enjoyed my return to Tremona and seeing more Fanciful Artwork!

Until next time,

Sorry I'm a few days late @kus-knee but I enjoyed your post and I have been meaning to share these photos with you. I live in Columbia, MO.. a small college town in the middle of the state. Although the population is only around 130,000 it is a very progressive city and I do admire the city for their focus and appreciation for the arts. About 5 years ago (if I remember correctly) the city hired an artist to paint murals over all of the big ugly electrical boxes downtown that control the stoplights. I hope you enjoy these photos.

Hey wow, very nice indeed. You should create a post with these pictures. Thanks for sharing!

Another nice post @kus-knee! Thank you for sharing this second part to this little gem of a town. The last piece was so memorable that I simply had to come and read part 2. :)

Here on Haida Gwaii, most people have to be an artist by the force of things and we find ourselves with people delving into all kinds of art styles as it has been brought upon the people of this area to be creative as necessity demands it from them.

Namaste :)

Art is more important than many of us realize! I actually love the art of the West Coast indigenous people in your neck of the woods!

Oh yes!! ART!! Art is life to me and life is art. I so love the 3-d affect used on something so mundane as a utility door panel. I have been known to paint on everything, cobblestones on concrete, water and laundry on laundry room floors, Tuscan walls, furniture of faux marble, secret gardens on children's bedroom walls and every other surface that calls out to me. There seems to be certain towns where artists gather and where art is truly appreciated. (San Miguel de Allende-MX, Manitou Springs-CO, and a sweet little spot in Tucson--AZ. Some of us are hidden away in our own oasis and share it from our little corners of the world. I love what you have shared here, bringing art to life. So much to appreciate!

Thanks a lot @everlove! Lots of artists and those that appreciate them here on Steemit!

Agreed @kus-knee! Steemit is a great place for artists--the community is building with great support and enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing the art around here!!

Oooooo---a very nice bone from you @kus-knee! Thank you for the treat--it's truly appreciated. So glad to exchange with you and I love that your bring up subjects worth with having a dialogue about. <3

Great art that brightens up a wall and my morning. Gives hope in this troubled world!

Yes it's "feel good" art! Thanks for coming!

I unfortunately don't know any artists. But I love the arts, you have a beautiful and interesting city in which they live such creative people! . Very beautiful pictures.

Thanks so very much for looking and commenting! I appreciate it!

More fantastic stuff! I love the blues that's the artist is fond of

Me too! Thanks a lot @meesterboom!

Creativity opens many doors in the minds eye. Beautiful pictures and great discovery!

Yes indeed. It's a very inspiring place to visit! Thanks for stopping and leaving your thoughts!

Wow...This reminds me of so many things in Boston. There was a woman who painted a mural on the side of a fire station one night (illegally). It was so incredible that the city of Cambridge hired her to do more. Also, the mysterious gates and what's beyond. Beacon Hill is honeycombed with gated alleyways leading to small buy often spectacular gardens. There was a coffee table book that showed photos of many.

That sounds like such a cool coffee table book!

I actually found some pics from it that I'm going to post in a few mins.

Good news!

I like the depth. Wish I saw more steemit signs in 3D. Spinning, dancing and whatnot.

Yes well we've got enough artists here to pull it off!

Thank you for the great post! I have fun!

Thanks for your visit @olga.maslievich!

This is probably my favourite place you have written about; I remember looking at your original post several times... it's just wonderful to see a place with this kind of "street art" that is not just graffiti. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks @denmarkguy! The great thing is that is still more to explore! They've got a little "eco-artso-villaggio" thing happening there!

Love the electrical panel "beautification!" Cheers to discovering art in unexpected places :)

Wow thanks Old Dog!!

Yes, away with the dull and in with the beautification! Thanks for having a look!

The shadowing is outstanding on that panel! Gives it a realistic depth! Well done for sharing it with us!

Thanks @old-guy-photos! They really are wonderful and uplifting!

I like the surrealist style and the idea of using ordinary architecture to overlay it with such paintings.

Yes it's very nice to see the work of that artist! You're a great artist in your own right!

Thank you so much, anyone is an artist indeed ;)
