Hey all, I'm leaving a quick doodle for @juliakponsford's art explosion week 30 :)
This week's theme is DEVIANCE. The most popular definition for this word is mostly applied socially, e.g., behavior that differs from accepted norms in society.
*
Though initially interested to explore that concept, I chose to draw another and (in my opinion) less expected take on the word of the week: Genetic Deviance. A physical trait that is unique in only a fraction of the population.
Heterochromia
a difference in coloration, usually of the iris. 1
Albinism
the congenital absence of any pigmentation or coloration in a person, animal or plant. 2
*
I made this doodle girl with complete heterochromia of the eyes, (meaning one iris is a different color from the other) feeding her albino turtle.
Here's a closer look.
Meet best friends, Phyllis and Snappy Snow. They are bonded by a mutual love of walks in the garden, wildlife photography, green leafy vegetables, and their unique colors which most people (and turtles) don't have.
Doodly-scratchy Process
My first step is always making an outline with an ink pen in a dark color:
I have been using the Pencil tool in ArtRage Lite software more this week. I use a soft tip Pencil in different colors and just color the drawing in a random, scribbly way.
Add more details in like shadows, a necklace, a few tattoos:
Last step was picking out a background. I chose blue. I also made the eyes a bit bigger to emphasize to colors.
Done!
And a big thank you to @juliakponsford and @vachemorte for Art Explosion!
See you in my next doodle and happy steeming.
Cheers!
XO,
Noelle
