Devour the sun

in #art8 years ago (edited)

This sketch was inspired by an episode from the animated series Mushishi. It's titled- Mushishi Special: Hihamukage

In this episode there is a story of two twins.

Their mother witnessed a false lunar eclipse when they were both still in the womb. One child (Hiyori) was able to shield the other (Hinata) from the moons light and so one twin was saved from the mushi's influences. Hiyora who was infected by the light was born with pale skin, hair, and eyes. If she was exposed to any sunlight then dark burning marks would appear on her skin. Their difference become apparent as they age and their relationship begins to drift apart.

I had a different concept that I was sketching prior and chose to stop. I lost my vision and This sketch came together very quickly. Practice is really paying off.

I'm not entirely satisfied with the look of the skin. It gives off the appearance of paint on wood but the colors have lost their vibrancy. I'll try something different next time.

Finished with some texture for some added contrast and they are complete!

Thanks for checking out this post!

This is beautiful. Really enjoyed learning about your creative process too!

Thank you! I'd love to speak about this process in a video next time.

The contrast is really great, cheers

Thank you! Yeah I'm glad that it worked out.

Is there anymore to their story? I feel like you didn't include an ending.

Oh I didn't want to spoil it for those that wanted to watch the show. It's from the anime series Mushi-shi and it's the special episode titled : Hihamukage

Oh okay, thanks.

Beautiful image and interesting story!

@vermillionfox Я люблю вышивать. Программы не работают(

это звучит забавно! О какой программе вы говорите?

@vermillionfox I say that many programs and I don't know how to work with them.

@olesia try the Procreate App if you do not have it already. It is really easy to use compared to photoshop. Good luck!

Ohh you made it look kinda like ying and yang, very interesting!

Yeah, I noticed that after I finished it! I was going to do a sun/moon mandala but then the girls got lost in that design. Simple is always better.

I think this is really great work. I wrote this similar times that day, feeling like a bot, but i need to say you seem to be a really talented artist! Please keep it up and show us more from you!

Nice to see the creation-process, too! Keep it up!

Thank you very much! Yeah, sometimes I end up leaving similar comments to my favorite users. They know they're awesome. Thanks again for checking out this post!

To repeat again, i said yesterday;

Some good artist don't have to say thank you ;) It's just awesome that you guys spread such beautiful things into our world, thats more then enough ;) Have a nice evening

You are too kind! I still have a long way to go :)

I've never heard of the animation Musisi. It seems to be a fantasy animated film. I'll search the film to see. Enjoyed. @vermillionfox
