Imagine that you are walking along the beach and suddenly, you see something strange in the water in the distance ... As you get closer you start to find it and find out that it is a huge snake.

The Chinese artist Huang Yong made this installation on a beach in France. He placed a giant structure that twists between the waves of the river. A snake skeleton emerging from the Loire river in Nantes. The piece is made entirely of aluminum and was created in 2013. Its length is 130 meters, a really surprising and beautiful structure.

Having an important figure in Chinese mythology on the European coasts, Huang Yong Ping examines the notions of identity and cultural hybridization, as is often the case in his work. The environmental issue is also very present in his art, where he regularly exposes the paradox of man that is divided between creative capacity and destructive impulses. This is one of the many possible interpretations of this work: it is placed on the beach, the skeleton appears with the tide and, little by little, it will be the home of marine fauna and flora.

Depending on the weather, the tide levels, or the perspective of a photographer, Serpent d'Ocean appears dramatically differently from one day to the next, an interesting phenomenon for those who do not know of the existence of the piece.
