Pencil allow each artitst to develop his own drawing style.The pencil can be used in different ways so that it can not single out any technique or set of techniques that belongs exclusively to this medium.Type of pencil and theme chosen for drawing influence the way the pencil is used.Hard pencil is good choice for a floral motif on which thin lines and delicate tonal center can build a light shading or hatching.Soft pencils can create densely tinted places.

The pencil is relatively recent invention in the art scene but pen and ink is used for centuries.Pen and ink can be purchased from specilalized suppliers or they can develop themselves as many artists do.Today on the market there are many different types of finished feathers and each of them achives a different effect.Since the pen and ink can not tolerate compromise in its linearity-with them you can not blended or spreadable as it can work with pencil and charcoal.
