Maine Coon
The Main Coon are the largest breed of domestic cat in the world. Seriously, they weigh from 9 to 16 pounds (female) and 13 to 18 pounds (male). They don't reach their full size until they are 3-5 years old. They are also a very great mouser, NO rodents will be safe if this cat is present in your home.
I painted this cat because of how amaze I am after I found out about this cat. It has a very majestic mane that a lion has but unlike a lion that will go for your throat the moment it sees you, this cat is very friendly and affable as I red from the articles about it. It also loves a tummy stroke (unlike my cat that bites me whenever I touch his tummy😖) and can very well adapt to many lifestyles and personalities.
Other Facts about the Maine coon
1. They are dressed for winter
The Maine coons have evolve to survive harsh winter, they are equipped with large, tufted paws that will serve as built-in snowshoes. Their thick, bushy tail can wrap around their bodies to preserve their body heat during cold nights. Also their crowning feature is a dense, water-repellent coat that will warm their body when it walks on ice or snow.
2. They love WATER
Unlike your regular cat that basically runs away whenever it sees water going to him, Maine coon actually loves water, maybe it is because of its thick coat. They will likely jump to your bathtub full with water.
3. First pet to be cloned
Back in 2004, there a Maine coon named Little Nicky that became the first cloned pet animal. When Little Nicky died at the age of 17 his owner named Julie saved his body tissue in a gene bank. She paid $50,000 to a company that is dedicated to cloning dogs and cats to transplant Little Nicky's DNA into an egg cell. A surrogate mother cat carried the embryo and gave birth to a kitten that was very similar to the temperament and appearance to Julie's favorite cat.

Here is the process of how I made it:
Materials Used:
- Acrylic paints
- Water color pad (because I don't have paper for acrylics so I tested it on this paper)
- Brushes (round)
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Eraser
Sketching
I first sketch the fact of the maine coon so that I could have a guide once I start painting it.
Background
After I finished sketching the face, I then applied paint on the background so that I could isolate the subject. I used 50% blue lake acrylic and mixed with 50% titanium white to have that soft light blue background. It was kinda awkward for me to paint using acrylic because I was used to watercolor already. I was very suprised that it takes a lot of acrylic just to paint the background so I didn't finish coating the whole background with paint just yet because I was afraid that I may not have enough paint to finish it.
Face
Now that I have partially painted the background and isolated the subject, I then started to paint the details on the face. I first started with the eyes because as you have already know I love starting with the eyes because it gives it life faster. Here I used the mix of paint that I used for the background to paint the eyeball of the eyes and used the mars black to paint the iris.
Next I used the phthalo blue to have that darker blue and applied it to the contour of the face and also used it to paint the darker areas of the body. Now, I think that I made a mistake here because it should go from lighter to darker but instead I did the opposite, good thing that it is easy to cover the darker tones with lighter ones using acrylic.
Body
I painted the majestic fur using a mix of 70% titanium white and 30% blue lake to create that bluish white fur. I applied a generous amount of it to cover up the dark paint that is supposed to be lighter.
Details
Now that I have applied the first layer of the paint to the subject, It is now time to add the details to make it look cooler. I used a mix of blue paint to create the shadows of the fur and used the titanium white for the highlights.
Finishing
Now that I have finished painting the subject, I still have a bit of acrylic paint left so I continued painting the background using the blue lake acrylic and the further part is a mix of phtalo blue and blue lake to create that slightly darker tone. I want to make the background near the subject lighter so that It would look like its radiating to convey its MAJESTIC side.
I noticed that there are some areas that are left unpainted so I painted it again. The paper kinda curve because the paint have already dried up.

What do you guys think? Do you like it?
Do I have a knack for acrylic?
This is my first acrylic painting. So far, I have tried graphite pencils, water colored pencil, water color and acrylic. The next on my list would be colored pencil, pen, charcoal and oil painting.
My goal this year is to use different kinds of art mediums and familiarize it so that I could get a lot of experience and diversify my arsenal. Someday I will create my very own art that uses all those mediums.
I hope you guys will be there with me throughout this journey.
That's all for now
I hope you enjoyed it
